Change Your Mindset, Then Your Technique

I've been Internet marketing for about 8 years. One of the things that I've learned is that it's about your mindset.

- I've done basic bum marketing based on these principles and saw unprecedented success.
- I've spent money on the latest and greatest seo tools, themes, techniques, outsourced everything and still failed.

It was always because of mindset; desire.

What was the difference?
1. I had faith
2. I had desire
3. I had persistence
4. I took consistent action everyday
5. I wasn't wasting my time on online games, porn, Facebook or whatever time waster.


After a month or so i began seeing $200 to $300 days. However I stopped my own momentum because I subconsciously didn't feel like I deserved this money. So I stopped bum marketing, I just stopped. I couldn't tell you why.

If you are failing, there's a good reason, it's usually a combination of ego (Not reading books, filtering advice of successful people, not seeking the help of a mentor), extreme introversion (underestimating the power of relationships, fearing relationships, not connecting to the customer) & deep subconscious self limiting beliefs/actions.

How to fix this?

Improve your habits. Exercise, meditate, budget, read, clean, look for the good in bad situations. It all adds up.

Read the book called The Slight Edge, and you'll learn why you're not successful.

  • The mindset is everything. People who usually complain about mindset teaching and ask for "meat and potatoes" are in dire need for mindset training.
    One can not constantly surpass its own self-image. Self-image is our own subconscious picture about ourselves built during our childhood with messages we were given by parents, teachers, friends, etc. If someone has bad self-image, it's impossible for them to be successful in life. Dr Maxwel Maltz wrote great book about it, The Science of Psycho Cybernetics, it's must read for everyone who wants better life.

  • This IS the true key to happiness and success. It's not anything else, those are just vehicles and tools. You must start with the internal motivation and confidence and everything else can be figured out. You can have the best tools and system but without proper mindset you will have a small chance to succeed.

    It applies directly to sales prospects too. They don't want to buy your features of your product/service, they want the results (benefits) to achieve their desired feeling or mindset.

    I.E. who cares about 250 or 400 hp, its what they can do and how they make you feel in a rush of acceleration. That can for a few seconds make you feel important and confident. Sell them their dreams instead of a product or its features.

    A product or features is just what they use for rationalizing a purchase of your product w/ the true goal of feeling a certain way.

  • I am totally agree with you. Do your tasks with love. If you have this mindset, you will no longer feel the tasks as chore. Instead they will be something you happily do.
    Replace your negative self-talk with positive one
    It all begins with our mind. We love something because we have positive self-talk about it and we don’t like something because we have negative self-talk about it. For instance, for something we love we may say something like:
    • I love it.
    • It’s exciting.
    • I can’t wait to do it.
  • It is amazing how the mind works isn't it. You start making more money than your mind thinks you are worth and it just stops you from working. Reading self improvement books helps most people over time.
    I just write down my dreams and goals in detail and why I deserve them. For some things I write down what I am going to do to deserve them and when I am successful I do not feel at all like I do not deserve this reward. It works for me!!!!

  • Great post Chris. Self limiting beliefs can be killers. Takes a lot of hard work for most to overcome them and succeed.
  • I agree- it is a matter of mindset. Everything will for in the right time. This means that if you are not ready to build your business and become successful with it there is a huge chance that you will fail.

    Another problem with most people is that they always think of how much they will get in return. While money is a driving factor to success, I would say that this may also pose problems and hinder your way to success. Money should not be the only motivating factor. I would have to say that you need to focus more on the end game- how you can really get better in your chosen niche/business. And of course be conssistent on your developments.

    You could take all the right actions in the world and get nowhere. People are always looking for the secrets to success but they will never see it without the proper mindset.
