Is there a way to make a cheap app?

Is it just me or are apps really expensive to create?

I have a few colleagues wanting to explore the idea of creating an app and while one has found a group overseas to do it, it seems like if you want to get one make in Australia it is about $7000 to $10,000.

Is there anything like 99 Designs or similar that has a lower price, it seems so expensive.

That is the typical market rate if you are looking to build something decent with some level of customisation based on your idea. (It will really depend on what are the functions you require within your app, or if there is current available plugin etc)

Based on personal experience, the cheapest quote you can get would probably be from India developer companies.

Or as an alternative, just buy a ready made app through sites like Flippa.com

Thanks for this - I have researched some companies in India however the two people I know that are doing this have had a few issues and it has taken quite a while to get the brief right. I will check out flippa.com though - thanks for this recommendation.

Seems to me that there is a hole in the market for this sort of thing, looking forward to when there are more affordable options out there.
