WP redirect question
Share on:

I need to redirect my new site built on WP to my mobile site - I just installed this plugin: Wordpress Mobile Re-direct 1.0. Not working great (could be I am in a crappy area and my phone gets hardly any signal). Any better way to do this on WP? Was going to manually install the script but didn't know where to put it.

Try our plugin:
Promote Your Site - click on link #3 ("how to redirect your Wordpress website..") and follow the steps there. Ping me if you have any questions.

I'm getting to learn a lot in this forum. I'll have to explore more options in my wordpress site. Will need to learn more about mobile sites. I'm still a newbie ! A long way to go ahead!

is this the one we produced ie by JumpMobi?

v2.1 is available and has many more features over v1 - regardless if you are having problems with v1 we will gladly support you just have to let us know and contact support at JumpMobi - Mobile Themes, Templates, Plugins & Tools For Wordpress, Joomla & Drupal

I personally would recommend using the php user agent detection over the javascript screensize detection since some androids do have issues with screensize detection - this is addressed in v2

Just FYI if you bought our plugin from our site we also provide simple to follow video instructions on how to install the plugin both through WP and manually using FTP - the videos can also be found on youtube too...

Thanks

Jay

Can't you just ad Quentins mobile script somewhere in the editor? Site is Grout911 - NY Tile and Grout Cleaning with m.grout911.com as the mobile version.
Here is the plugin is used: WordPress › WordPress Mobile Re-direct 1.0 « WordPress Plugins

Thats Joe Motions script - he's another warrior here on WF - Drop him a pm am sure he will help you fix any problems your having.

You could add Quentins script if your happy editing code...

Not sure if any of these scripts address what happens if the mobile visitor wants to return to the desktop version of the site - many of them just redirect them back to the mobile version so basically make the mobile visitor get stuck in a loop with no way to access the desktop version of the site...

whilst many people will prefer the mobile version, the mobile version often have less information than the desktop, and if the mobile visitor wants to experience a less light weight version why should you stop them especially if its the difference of making a potential sale or not...

Thanks Jay - I can edit code - just don't know where to put it in WP. I will hunt Joe motions down and see whats up. Script worked great on my html site - site itself sucked though.

take a look at your wp themes header.php - you typically can add your redirect javascript before the </head> tag
