Okay, so I created a client's website using the WP Mobile Pro Sublime Theme and it's not displaying on a clients phone and also when I had a friend go to the site on her computer it's not displaying either... The site is: johnhowiesteak.mobi I've been having intermitent problems loading these WP Mobile Pro sites on my own phone. Not sure what the problem is but I need some help to fix it. I installed Wordpress on Hostgator using Fantastico. Might there be a permissions issue with some of the wordpress files? I'm not sure what to do...Totally embarrassed by presenting this new site to a client and him not being able to view the site. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Over 30 Seconds to load the site on a Samsung Galaxy 4G! Obviously that is on a shared Hosting Account...I have to question whether or not that particular server has too high of a load on it. | |

have you tried running it through the mobile ok checker, googles online speed tester for mobile or even speedtest plugin for firebug? whilst you dont necessarily need to be 100% i would expect to be pushing +85% - many of those tools i mention will identify problem areas you maybe having. at least understanding highlighted errors and knowing how to address them will help you in the long run. cheers, Jay |

Thanks for the tips... I'm suspecting there may be a problem with the server as I have 3 other sites using the same Wordpress Themes and couldn't get to them either. I tried going to the sites on a different computer, cleared cookies and temp files, opened a new browser, restarted the computer and still wasn't able to get it to work... When I first tried the John Howie site on my other computer...The site wouldn't load by using the full johnhowiesteak.mobi URL...However, when I shortened it to: johnhowiesteak.mobi the site displayed fine. So, I'm not sure what the issue is... Going to put a support ticket in with hostgator and see what they come up with...In the meantime I'll checkout those tools you mentioned... Thanks again... Hope to get this fixed soon... |

There's definitely been an intermitent issue with the display of the sites I'm hosting with the my reseller account. I replicated the issue once again tonight both on my Android phone as well as my desktop computer... As to the server load...Hostgator support replied back to me today and said... "Your server, dogan, is showing no signs of issues loading pages today and has remained under an extremely low load all day. Infact, on average the server has been 90.10% idle. Could you please let us know what error message you are seeing and which domains you are seeing this on as well as times when this occurred so we may more closely investigate?" So, the server load appears to be fine... I sent them the detailed info they asked for... Hopefully can get this resolved quickly. |

I just looked and it popped right up. Looks nice. BTW, for any Seattle or Eastside folks looking at this, John Howie has one of the best happy hour deals around. Their kobe beef burger and fries is a STEAL at around $8.00. Can get crowded (duh) but worth going over there. |

Thanks redlegrich! Yes, I think around 4AM local last night Hostgator Support and I figured it out. Problem was my private nameservers...I switched IP's since 2008 and needed to update the DNS zone settings to the proper IP addresses... Here's some info for ya'll if you ever have this issue yourselves... "Verisign (through their involvement in the management of the root DNS servers on the net) has pushed out a change so if you have private nameservers set at your registrar, then your DNS server must have a matching A record or the site will not resolve. The way around this is to simply add an A record to the DNS zone for each nameserver. DNS Glue: Step 3: Make sure your SOA and NS Records are Correct This article is all about fixing your glue, by which we mean, checking the SOA and NS records in your domain's DNS zone, and making sure they match exactly the name servers being used at your registrar. The SOA (Start of Authority) and NS (Name Server) records tell the internet that your private name servers are authoritative and contain the most up-to-date information about your DNS settings. If these are not set correctly, some DNS servers will not trust your private name servers. Other DNS servers may get confused because there is a mismatch between what the registrar says and what your name servers say. This typically results in some people being able to reach your domain, while others cannot. So it is always a good idea to double check these settings." Thanks for the John Howie props! He's an awesome man and his food is definitely great! Hypetext...Could you do me a quick favor and reload the site in your phone again...I'm curious if you are still having a difficult time getting to the site...Before I believe you said it took like 30 seconds for the page to load...I've tried accessing the site via an Androad Samsung Galaxy4S and it loaded within 3-4 seconds...and that was after clearing cookies, cache, etc... Here's the site again: johnhowiesteak.mobi Thanks again for all your help... Problem is almost 100% resolved...I'm just double checking something with hostgator... |

Hi Vanessa! Thanks for the compliment. To get Open Table reservations on the site, I simply viewed the source code on my clients main website. Just copied and pasted it until I could get it to work. If I remember right, the code wasn't in the proper WP format so I played around with it a bit to get it to work... |

Thanks for your input...Who do you recommend? I have had one of Hostgator's reseller accounts for over 5 years...Great hosting and I know of a lot of other marketers who use them...The problem I had was a simple oversight with my private nameservers... |

It might have something to do with the homepage being over 80kb in size. You need to try and get that much smaller. People will not wait around for pages to load. You need to get your page down at least half of that size.
