Automatic updates from main website... Is it possible??

Hi
Got a new client today for a hotel mobile site, but they regularly update their site (pretty much every day) with daily menu specials etc.

Is it possible to set up some kind of automatic feed from the main site to the mobile one, they don't really want to mess around with having to keep on top of 2 sites.

Well, I couldn't tell you how to do it (because I don't know how), but I think you could use a PHP script to get the info from their main site and display it on mobile site.

If their main site is a Wordpress site, it's relatively a simple solution - I've done it several times.

So I guess it really depends on what mobile script you are using and what the originating main site is created with. I've also utilised a regular text file that the client updates that is then read into the main site and the mobile site. I can of course provide a demo and let you know how I achieved it if you PM me.

Hi there, theirs is a HTML site and I'll be building the mobile site in HTML also, so no easy wordpress plugins unfortunately!

Sev, if the main site is basic html than you could use PHP Curl to scrape the content and extract the info and reformat the content for mobile - its not something i can explain to do in a single post, but there are many tutorials on line that you can check out
