Jquery Mobile

Just been playing with the latest Jquery Mobile format and wondering what you think.

It is a very basic play at the moment and looking for something to make a more visual platform to build as having to do stuff in code is a pain. Here is my first attempt.

http://keymobi.info/?url=http://keym...uery3/app.html

Does anyone know if there is software or something I can use like a wsiwig that would make it easier.

There are some online ones which are quite good the best being Codiqa as it allows adding of pages etc

Codiqa - the jQuery Mobile Prototype Builder

What are your thoughts on Jquery Mobile?

Quentin

I've also been having a play around with jqeury mobile of late. Although there are some good features I have found it a bit limiting in what you can do. I just find most of the sites I have created look too similar to one another.

The other important thing to remember is that it's not actually the mobile web standard, it is just something created by one company and thus don't think we should all be looking at it as the new standard necessarily.

I think some people get confused when they hear HTML5 and think that means jQuery but it doesn't necessarily. They are two different things so I'm concentrating more on looking into HTML5 rather than jquery specifically. I think it will give a lot more options that limiting a design to one type of platform such as jquery mobile.

I tend to agree, although with css3 I think one could design some creative sites. But, html5 is the way to go either way. Combined with css3 the possibilities are endless. Exciting times in mobile development for sure!!

Definitely Rob! But you do realize CSS3 is actually just the newer version of CSS? So just like CSS and HTML work together, CSS3 and HTML5 will be the new standard and work hand in hand with one another. CSS3 looks after the styles and HTML5 looks after the page content.

Definitely will be great possibilities with these new coding standards though.

i still think its going to be a good 12 months to 18 months before we can really start getting stuck in to full blown web apps developed with html5, jquery mobile, etc just a matter of technology catching up - in the next 12 to 18 months i expect non smart phones to be almost 85& to 95% of the entire market place, and more people using network speeds that deliver content at acceptable speeds... question remains though on limited data bandwidth but i have high hopes they will increase... they have too - its going to be an interesting 18 months that's for sure!

I know i am a purist but am still developing content for the broadest range of mobile devices - but my range in this next 18 months will be leaning more and more towards smartphones, having something to degrade gracefully too certainly wont be a bad thing... thats why i am liking an adaptive design approach right now that delivers the most compatible content based on browser user agent detection.

I think for all of us its safe to say there's some really cool things out there right now, that its difficult not to play around with it! lol

Sorry, I am too busy helping people to think of a cool signature!
