Hey mobile warriors, I am creating sample pages for ten local restaurants that I will be approaching tomorrow, using Will's template. Gunning for my first sale! Is there any faster way that you guys make sample pages besides the usual method? Also I make a flyer for them using mobilizer to show them their current site vs mobile site, and each time I make flyer I have to save images of what both sites look like on mobilizer, then open in Pixlr and size up images to look decent. Do you guys have any more efficient way of making a flyer? Look forward to feedback, Thanks |

I don't really understand these methods where you build a 'demo' site, with the very real possibility being you walk into the business and the owner doesn't even want to talk you. A better method: 1. Show your portfolio: if you don't have one - build some websites for free for a couple restaurants. Get testimonial. This will be easy. 2. Go to the restaurant and show the previous work that you have done. 3. Sell This 'demo' method makes it look like your time isn't worth anything. The owner goes "Well he did this in his spare time? it can't be worth much". I run a successful web design business and I have never once made a demo site. Although I did build my first two websites for free (one for a place I volunteered, and another for a friend who plays a sport professionally) - And, come to think about it, I still receive referrals from those two 'free' clients. Just food for thought.... |

Thanks for the reply mcflause, Yes I've already done 5 sample sites and only 2-3 seemed interested, the other 2 are done for nothing. But the thing is its all about the fact that a sample takes around 10 minutes with flyer, and if I get 1 sale out of 10 samples made, then that made it all worth it. Your approach sounds really good too, and you obviously have much more experience than me. I'd love to try it out. Just saying that Will and plenty of other mobile marketers have done the exact method I'm talking about where you build a sample. I am new to this though and have no sales experience, so I'm taking whatever advice I can get. Thanks again for response. |

Well I guess the first part of building a business is getting out there. If you got enough balls to get out there and be persistent, the rest will fall into place. Trial and error and you will discover what works best for you. I wish you good luck! |

Just a quick thought about the demo. I use my own template and have some basic information in the mobile site. I just swap out the logo, change the colors and then show the client "their sample." It really isn't their whole site I just changed the logo and their colors. I can do it in about 2 minutes. I haven't used Wills templates but I'm sure they are good stuff. Using one main template for each type of business and then just swap out the logo. You can cut that 10 minutes down to about 2-3. |

But remember, if someone has expressed an interest in seeing a sample mobile site for their business then it's worth putting in the little time to create that for them since they are your best prospects. | |
