Can anybody recommend a theme that would be good to use to showcase your mobile website designs? have made about 5 demo sites and have a few clients lined up to start jobs for, would like a simple wordpress site I can use as a portfolio ! Also can anyone recommend a pre-made slideshow or media pack that I could edit with my company details & logo to attract new customers ? |

I'm not building separate mobile sites any longer. I used to buy the mobi domains. It seems to me that it's more effective for a business to have one domain that is full size and mobile responsive without having to have a separate mobile domain. This way any changes to the main site are instantly reflected. Also, their mobile responsive full site comes up in mobile searches. Studiopress now makes many of their themes "mobile responsive". This works for me. |

I'd highly recommend you going with the catalyst theme. Also you'll get nivo slider alongwith it so that sorts out your slider issue as well.

In reality a responsive design may looks great but is typically far from being mobile ready or optimized and certainly not a substitute for a specifically designed mobile optimized website. If you are developing mobile websites you should already be aware that currently Google does not recognize a responsive design as being mobile or mobile friendly... it will just consider it to be just like every other desktop website, thats not to say it wont display in Googles Mobile Search For Smartphone SERPS as you will often see mixed results of mobile and non mobile content. However if you look at the non smartphone Google search platform you will see that Google identifies properly optimized mobile sites with a small green telephone handset. This is not implemented on Google search for smartphones yet... however with the introduction of Google Smartphone Crawlers, and the huge investment they have put in to the Go Mo Initiative i would expect this to change... | |

Everyday they are releasing new responsive wp themes on themeforest. I checked and looked at all of them.. So far i`m not impressed in terms of loading speed and responsiveness when you turn your phone around.. I think that they have little to do with mobile optimized sites.. Too much content and it produces a very long page ( most of the time) But... they are a nice shortcut and simple solution when you just want to squeeze your sites into a smartphone or tablet..
