How to implement mobile coupons system?
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hello there,
I want to make a page with mobile coupons for my client's restaurant mobile site.

I like a model pictured here:

(I've grabbed these images from here: http://www.warriorforum.com/mobile-m...-images-7.html. I hope Neil B will forgive me for it.)

I understand that the visitor must enter a phone number to receive a coupon via SMS. I also understand that we need this phone number to build a customer data base for SMS mailings in future.
How to implement this scheme? Can anyone suggest some international services for this purpose?
Thank you in advance,
Andrey

You need to set up an auto responder for mobiles, and when customers send in their phone number, they receive an automated message back, perhaps with a link to an image ad.

If you live in the states , and what to set this up without any intial fees, check out signalhq, they allow up to 100 subscribers with no inital costs. You will have to look for the free trial link, it is not immediately obvious on their pricing page.

there are lots of other services if you require more options, limewire seems popular.

Outside of the States, Twilio is available in the UK and some other European countries. You will need some kind of script to manage a mobile campaign. There are a number of WSO's that use twilio, check out ChadWyatt.

You should be able to set up a mobile auto-responder with an html link to a jpg file quite easily. Twilio can do this, so can most SMS marketing platforms. The recipient phone needs to be able to display a jpg file. I'm not sure how much that will limit your program, but it's becoming less and less of an issue.

I am always one who is picky on words. Just me, but I do not like the word scheme. That , to me, denotes something underhanded. Just how MY mind works.

Anyway, that is a very general idea of how the coupon systems work. Most , if not all, of the leading sms suppliers will have an equivalent way of doing it.

Not sure where you are, but I know Lime Cellular is in the U.S., Canada and the UK.

Just my thoughts on this but I think it would be better to give the potential customer a "no strings" coupon first and once they have used that coupon and are a satisfied customer then get the subscription to the list at the restaurant via QR code on the table.

You then have a willing subscriber instead of a forced subscriber to try it and maybe not like the restaurant or the service.

Sure they can unsubscribe but that is just another aggravation they will tell their friends about and be prompted to give a bad review.

Is this what you're looking for?

Don't even need a SMS service for it. Can be used with a cellphone that receives and responds with a code.

Here in Europe there is no Twilio yet. Also you can use twitter FOR FREE. You need to search for it, but its possible.

But with this I can also put a like button behind it to create virals. Couponcode shows up AFTER liking the mobile site thru Facebook, Twitter or Google+

And lots of other possibilities to

Or create something like this on a flyer, you don't even need a landingpage then

Scan and you will see what happens!

Or put it on your Tshirt with the text "Text me if you like me" lol
But serious now;
But better put it on offline media and build a SMS subscriber base. Or instead of a number behind it put a mobile page with more coupon offers behind it. And you can use any image with the right sms tag on it.

If you dont have any service like twillio you can also use a emailresponder to build your database and send out text messages with a VOIP carrier. Lots of them charge you a few cents for SMS and do bulk sending (webbased) like 10 or 20 at a time.

I use a normal QRcode creator and start playing around with photoshop. Within a few minutes you can create a totally unique QRcode that stands out and therefor gets higher conversions. I started this playing around because I wanted transparant QRcodes for print on other media without the need of a white background. this way I can even print a QRcode on a Black Tshirt and let the QRcode light up under blacklight. Needed that for a little project

It fails because its a local number here (Netherlands) and there is no international code before it. But offcourse you can put any number behind the code.
