There is mostly no difference between them except that mobile seo is optimization for mobile browsers. It is just a process where mobile browsers are able to view or see your website accurately on their mobile devices with complete details.

I think your definition of SEO is very different to mine. SEO as the name suggests is search engine optimization. That is, the practice of optimizing a website for search engine placements. Optimizing a website for mobile viewers is a different thing altogether. Although optimizing your website for mobile viewers may help your search engine rankings, the two definitely do not always go hand in hand.

Unless it's a WAP(non-smartphone) site then result should be the same. However there is a tendency to associate mobile searches with local results more, so that could play a big factor in whose site gets displayed.

I have not seen any difference in mobile search vs regular search. IMO, "mobile search" does not really exist and is more hype than reality. But don't take my word for it, search using the google APP as well as the google mobile website on your phone's browser for some competitive keywords and see how many of those sites in the top 10 are actually mobile. The results, 90% will NOT be. ...so what does that really tell us? Mobile is just a bridge, most smartphones have a "reader" which will optimize any website for mobile reading. However, that does not help with lead gen or coupons like a real mobile site is intended for. |

If a mobile site is "found" as a result of a full page site redirecting (javascript) to a mobile version, does that mean SEO for the "full" site is more important than optimizing the mobile version?

As search engines continue to go 'mobile' then the SEO of your mobile site by itself will indeed become more and more important. | |

I agree with WillR, it may not seem like such a big thing now but in the future it will be. If you or your client have gone to the effort of optimizing the main site, it will only take a few minutes to do the same on the mobile site, this way what ever happens you a safe.

Except the Browser compatibility and optimization, there are no more things that differs in Mobile SEO from regular SEO. Nowadays, responsive web design is in trend to overcome the separate design need for websites.
