It seems they might have released these versions (and the serial numbers) because the CS2 licensing servers went offline (due to a technical glitch, as it seems). But does that mean they're giving them away to previously non-licensed customers?

This seems like a very dicey proposition for those who have not actually purchased the software. I doubt that Adobe would sanction its use by non-paying customers.

From what i read it was an oversight - and the download was supposed to be only for people that purchased CS2 originally since they where closing down the licensing servers. But a handful of blogs misinterpreted what Adobe was actually doing and basically told every that Adobe were being overly generous and told everyone it was a free for all! Hopefully Adobe's turn this into a positive PR move and either honor or charge a small fee for this uber old product of theirs! Despite being date am sure it would be enough for some people and would at least get people into the Adobe franchise legally and have a new funnel to market too. |
Sorry, I am too busy helping people to think of a cool signature! | |

yeh does look like they messed up, but haven't put any requirements back up. Adobe almost does something amazing by accident | Ars Technica still available too, for what its worth... |

I was just about to post this. It looks legit to me. Adobe is just giving away the older versions of their software.
