Mobile marketing is marketing through mobile devices such as cell phones and tablet PCs. It is an ever expanding market and is slowly taking over regular PC Internet marketing. I think mobile marketing now is about 30% of the overall internet marketing.

This is really just an extension of internet marketing, as more and more people are starting to spend more time on their mobile devices and less time on their computers it was inevitable that the internet marketers would move into this form of marketing. There are a lot similarities between internet marketing and mobile marketing but there are also some pretty important differences. Understanding these differences is important if you want to be successful with your mobile marketing campaign. The biggest difference is that it is much harder to get your ad in front of the consumer so you will need to be more creative in your approach to marketing.

Mobile Marketing is most of similar to online marketing or email marketing. But as now a days most of people are using mobile phones for internet browsing and online communication, so online marketers are now promoting their products advantages and facilities through customers mobile phones by subscribing them with their phone number..

As millions of people use mobile phones, so if he or she send only one SMS then a lot of people will get it..So it's a large marketing media now...

SMS - If not used properly will be considered as Spam
MMS - Not picked up as expected , could say already died
WAP - Ads we see while we browse using mobile, huge potential
USSD - huge potential, just starting to use.
IVR - Used widely for customer care services and marketing

I think with the increasing popularity of smart phones especially amongst the younger generation, the impact of mobile marketing may be more important than ever. New ways of reaching people, not just through social media sites, but also through new apps such as vine or snapchat allow for more options. I think for mobile marketing you have to keep up with the latest apps such as social apps where you get to really find out what people are talking about and possibly get some ideas about future business.
