Great tip for mobile site leads!

If you are trying to find new customers for your mobile sites here is a good tip I thought of the other day.

Go through your local papers, magazines, anywhere where you can find QR codes in ads. Scan the code and see if it takes you to a web site or a mobile site.

Guess what? Most times it's a web site that looks like crap and there they are asking you to scan their code with your mobile!

That's a foot in the door and another lead!

Also - the old-fashioned phone book is now publishing QRs on some business ads.

I agree with MobiDev, too many people put sites up that are not ready for the QR code.

If they have a QR code, you scan it with your smartphone and then taken to a desktop site that is awful to navigate on a smartphone. What a waste...but what an opportunity!

Remember to bring some mobile data (maybe an Infographic and trusted data) so business owners can see what is going on. Most people think mobile is a long shot and they to invest in it.

Websites now should be mobile-friendly. I have read somewhere here on the internet that mobile searches take a huge part in Google search queries.

That is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. I get ads in the mail all the time, and I see biz cards, etc with QR codes and it takes you to their crappy desktop site. All I say is W.T.F?!?!? I don't get why people don't understand what a QR code is and how to make it really work for your business.

Yeah, cuz I wanna spend 5 minutes on your site zooming in and out. No thank you!

If you search local directories you may be lucky and find one that has QR codes, (we did) with 98% of them not having a mobile site. Easy conversion! We send emails to them and out of 129 we got 81 asking for quotes and amendments to the mock up.

Thank you for the wonderful tip! Just more evidence that business owners need to be educated about online marketing, Mobile sites etc, etc. And we have the solution!

Jim,

Offline, such as local business directories, thy usually have a QR code because their IT guy has told them it is current! You scan it with your smart phone/ipad and it takes you to their desktop site :0

I attended a local network meeting but before I asked with the organizer if I could do a mobile presentation and got a 'yes'. So I took my laptop and used their OHP, I went through the entire reason why it is essential for a mobile website. I handed out a checklist for everyone and I said if anyone had any questions to ask when I was walking around. I walked away with 13 new customers. These 13 I told I would do an intro price if they provided 3 references. So I did the 13 at £250 ($395) each and I got a list of 49 hot leads!

Called the 49 leads up and I have meeting booked all this week and next.

I will offer them the same deals, so hopefully this could grow very fast, if I get 3 referrals per new customer.

Hi,

The checklist gets them to evaluate their own web/marketing presence, to show them how exposed they are. Then when they call you and you visit them you can go through the list and tell them:

I do tell them how to do the cheaper solutions - but usually the business owner is too busy to do it so will pay you to do it.

I go through through the list and say I can help with any of these,

I can do that for $499 per month
I can do that for $99 per month
I can do that for $199 per month

Etc

I was once told - 'When the customer says it, it is true...' So all you have to do is provide a solution to the problem and hopefully the sale is closed.
