  • Last movie l saw was Jupiter Rising, a great movie, eventhough the critics trashed it!

I thought that they portrayed a 15,000 year old sociopath admirably, although l would expect that they would have several high tech, self defense weapons on them, just in case.

A few guards that are a pushover, doesn't really portray realism!

And they could have portrayed Jupiters red spot with a bit more depth, (side views, like in Cosmos, for example)?

    • [3] replies
    • Did you see it in theatres? I wanted to see it but the critics bombed it so I told myself I would catch it on Netflix.

I saw it, and enjoyed it. But every time I heard Mila Kunis talk, all I heard was Meg from Family Guy.

Also watched BigHero6 last week and Divergent.

Then watched an old movie I'd taped - "John Carter". I've been on a movie kick lately but only watch at home - no theaters for me.

  • Last Documentary I watched was "Endgame: Blueprint for Global Enslavement" Touched on various mind boggling topics. I would give it a 7/10. It is worth a watch and is free.

  • The November Man 4/10 Pretty boring movie I am glad I just Netflixed it. It is not even worth a watch.
  • The Last Movie I watched was Sleepless in Seattle. I have watched it a lot of times. I just love to watch it from time to time. Yup. Don't ask me about it.

The Last Documentary I watched was the Biography of Shannen Doherty. I watched a rerun of Charmed. She's my favorite. I just love her.
  • The last movie I watched was "Tinkerbell and the legend of the Neverbeast". I would give it a 7.

  • I watched a documentary on Netflix the other day called "Maravilla", the story of an Argentinian Boxer named Sergio Martinez. It gives some of his history and leading up to his big fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in 2012.

He's considered by many, at that time, to be the 3rd or 4th best pound-for-pound boxer, having beaten fighters who were considered taller and stronger than him.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I gave it an 8. I've always liked Sergio and the documentary made me like him more.

  • Walk of Shame. Hilarious ! It was the last movie I actually finished. I have Netflix and I never finish anything. And... I may watch that Babadook or what ever it's called, but it will have to be in broad daylight!
  • Yeah, this isn't a forum that a lot of people have friends who are geologists, or climatologists. I've stopped trying to reason with people who don't even understand underwater volcanoes or that glacial replenishment stops when the trees are cut beneath the glacier whether it warms or not. :smilies_rolle yes:
    • [1] reply
    • Talk about a classic ad hominem fallacy...

You're right. I don't have friends. I just have family a family member that started working for NCAR in the late 60s (although he's retired now), another that has been the weather reporter in his small town for over 30 years, another that's in the Coast Guard providing support for research ships in the artic.

But I do know a daughter of a friend that's a biologist studying the effects of climate change on coral reefs in the Caribbean. Does that count?

I never brought them up because I don't pretend they establish any authority for me.
  • BTW Sal,

Even if your claim of underwater volcanoes and loss of trees are correct, you may want to learn the science of reflection, particularly of infrared light.

If ice is melting for whatever reason, it means less infrared light is reflected back into the atmosphere, since material that is white will reflect more infrared light than any other color. This means as more ice is melted from the Earth's surface, more infrared light is absorbed. And since it's infrared light that contains the heat energy in light, the Earth will absorb more heat if there is less ice (white) on the surface. And it could cause a runaway effect, as more ice melts, more heat is absorbed, so the remaining ice melts faster, so heat is absorbed at a higher rate and on and on...

Again, even if your theory is correct, it is contributing to man-made Global Warming as the deforestation is caused by man.

Science can tell the difference between man made CO2 and naturally occurring CO2 in our atmosphere on a molecular level. The increase in CO2 in our atmosphere is man made.

    • Just saw Ex Machina.

Brilliant film. Intelligently written. In fact, you have to be pretty sharp...just to understand all the discussions.

Slightly disappointed in the ending. Not because it was a bad ending. It was well written and made perfect sense. I just don't like endings where justice isn't balanced.

      But I really recommend it.
  • Just saw Ex Machina in theaters last week. Fantastic film 9/10.

It had its slow parts, but instead of being boring, they built on the suspense. Great "slow burn" type suspense/sci-fi thriller. Really well written.

    • "Chef", currently streaming on Netflix.

Watched it with the whole family, and everyone LOVED it, from my 10 and 14 yr old kids, to my notoriously hard to please mother-in-law. Even my father-in-law with two scotches in him had no trouble staying awake for the entire film.

      Highly recommended.

Edit: It is rated-R due to strong language, so keep that in mind if you intend to watch it with your own youngsters.

  • Pitch Perfect 2 6/10

It was a funny movie, I would have liked it to be shorter. Definitely better than the first one. My advice is catch it home not the movie theater. Love Fat Amy!
  • The last one was "Mad Max".
    9/10 I would say.
One of the best movies in 2015 so far. Story is greate, graphic is greate, actors' play is greate. Do we really need more?
Mad Max is so recommended to watch.
  • The Imitation Game 7/10

Rented the Blu-ray from Netflix. It was true story so I knew it would be enjoyable. It is a drama but also very entertaining with actual true facts of WW II. I recommend watching it.
  • Tomorrowland 8/10

Watched it with my son, I thought the movie was excellent because of the message it sends out to everyone. I recommend seeing it in Imax!
  • Yesterday I watched The Thirteenth Floor as I'm currently going through a phase where I only watch AI movies.

Well, this one was quite bad and didn't make much sense. Especially the virtual reality within virtual reality. Well, it was made in 1999 or something, so maybe I'm ruined by all the new movies and can't appreciate it anymore.

    4/10
  • I have quite a few movies i liked but i will pick just one; i know you said most recent but one of my favorites was Training Day. Denzel needs to make more bad guy role movies
  • The last movie that I watched at the movie theatre was Avengers: Age Of Ultron. I gave it a 7 out of 10 rating for being entertaining and an overall good movie. I wasn't happy with the villan, Ultron, since having a robot enemy theme has been done to death. Can barely wait for when the fight Thanos......

The last movie that I rented was Birdman and I gave it a 8 out of 10. I thought the acting was superb, the writing was solid, and the overall story was pretty good. A lot of interesting camera angles from the director. The ending was kinda interesting.

I'm going to go see Ex Machina tomorrow night at the theatre.

      Of course, amazing special effects.

Mind numbingly predictable, if you've seen movies like 2012, Deep Impact, Armageddon.

I just watched Insidious 1 and Insidious 2, I have to say that I was very impressed how they masterfully tied the movies together. Usually horror movies fail when making sequels but they nailed it. The movie creeps you out to the max and just gets extremely creepy as the story plays out. I will be seeing Insidious 3 very soon
  • Jurassic World 10/10

We were able to watch it and it was not even in Imax just 3D ETX, let me tell you that it was everything and more than the hype. The movie was extraordinary from start to finish. • I watched Herbert And The Search For Happiness on Netflix Saturday night and I thought it was an absolutely delightful, feel-good movie. Definitely one of my favorite movies on Netflix now. • I just watched Predestination on cable. An incredibly intricate time travel movie.
    • I have yet to see this, Claude liked it a lot and now you. I usually use Rotten Tomatoes as a yardstick (and sometimes agree with it) because it is based on a consensus of different reviewers and stats taken from the general public who have just viewed it.

The (reviewer) consensus rating for this movie was 27% out of a hundred, very poor, Movie goers gave it 67%, a lot different.

One wonders if the presence of Arnold, the premise of the subject matter, the enjoyment of the previous movies would be a factor in liking it. There seems to be a huge disagreement with seasoned critics and the general population. However that often works the other way, the movie is given 98 percent by the critics yet flops as far as the public is concerned.

Critics say oh, in the Terminator, each scene is explained as to why its happening by the actors dialogue, making the plot and story clear. So often in movies (and in life) I lose the plot completely.

Claude talked about seeing Predestination on cable (the sifi channel is showing it) It got a very high score on Rotten Tomatoes but never made it to the cinema. (or was there very briefly)

All very strange. Anyway, will go and see the Terminator because I love that sort of movie and liked the previous ones.

I saw that Lucy only got a 50 percent score on RT but I adored that movie. I think 50 percent or above, it's to most of us a good movie.

It was not as good as the books..maybe just about 5 or 10 per cent at most.
For an R-rated movie you will expect a lot of nudity and dirty talk but you'd get more of that in an action movie..I should have just stayed at home at watch a rerun of Game of Thrones.
