After 10 years - it's time to break up..........

I loved FireFox - used it faithfully for 10 years......tried chrome, hated it.

But I've finally gotten over firefox. These last two updates have been horendous - the spell check no longer works, and now........my adobe just keeps crashing after updating FF again yesterday -- go to the help sections on Moxilla and find I'm not the only clueless non-techie having serious problems.

Their advice? Start it in safemode and do this and that and another thing ......yadda......yadda.......yadda. I don't even understand all of what they are saying. I know I call myself a technomoron, but I can do SOME things after 10 years..........but I can't make FF work normally anymore. I finally figured out one problem, then it's the same problem every update and I have to remember what to do to get dropdown boxes to click ... now the spell checker...and the Adobe flash.

It's just too much hassle anymore. They've had 2 of these problems for the last 3 or 4 updates. You mean you can't make a browser that allows the spellcheck to work corrrectly without tech know how? Fine -- a few other browsers aren't having problems and they are free, too.

So...........see ya later FF. I have better things to do online than sit around night after night trying to figure out how to make you run correctly again update after endless update.

I haven't had any issues with it - but I don't have auto update on.

Just checked and I'm using 42.0 at the moment. I'm invited to "upgrade for 43.0.1 - but I'll do it later after they work the bugs out.

I'm using 38.0.5. No automatic updates either and I leave it alone unless something starts going wrong, so I never have a problem with it.

Mine just updated this morning. I have 43.0.1.

I've been having a lot of problems with Firefox as well lately, so I'm glad to know it's not just me. Hopefully they'll get the bugs out because I really don't want to switch to something else.

Hmmm, Firefox is a pain, but it is also pretty good!

I would recommend switching off Auto updates for starters, and only update when it has tech, issues.

I had the same FF brower for the last year, but had to update after a tech, error popup kept occuring.

Then after that the usual, Norton doesn't work, had to find my browser Hawaii graphic again.

I have been updating Norton for the last week, but still no patch. Might try going for the latest FF, might finally fix it?

Yep, like you it updated automatically almost every month, and every time, Adobe crashes, and Norton autofill, is a rightoff!

Get rid of autoupdate, and you will only need this headache, once a year?

As for Adobe, you will have to remove it completely and reinstall, for it to behave.

And ignore some YT videos saying to change this in the registry, they are usually tech, heads, that tend to go overboard, when someone else just says reinstall the dodgy software and it will fix it!

But l do have Explorer as well, as an emergency backup if FF, has kittens, eventhough it is a crap browser!

I have both. Chrome is definitely faster to load web pages but have had occasion in Windows 10 that if you close it and then try to re-open you find it either does not open or there is a delay. This seems to be getting better as more Windows 10 updates are coming down (or google is auto-updating it with fixes). Yes, Chrome is the best still.

I like the fact that flash (for video's) is built in and it auto-updates itself, and it's faster than Firefox.

It recently disabled it's support for Ace-Stream which is for torrent and tv streams, I use it alot. I still keep Firefox (as it supports it) around and you don't need to get rid of it, good to keep as a backup browser.

    • That thought crossed my mind also.

      But, phew.

FF sure has been sluggish an' buggy for an age.

Thing is, it fixes my bookmark & baggage options better'n chrome.

Vivaldi an' Midori r both kinda breezy.

Carly Simon and James Taylor do have a daughter named Sally Taylor.

Yep coincidence. My maiden name is Bradley.

            Discrat - I don't look a thing like her.

Pos/Neg - save that pic. Ya just never know...........................

I am using Chrome now. I fixed it up a little bit and it's doing real well. I didn't uninstall FF - so it's there in an emergency, as long as that emergency isn't flash or doesn't need a spell check.........and of course, still have to open the program manager to shut off that damned pluggin container.............

Downloaded Opera, too - but that also have problems with the flash so probably will just do an uninstall in that one. Hoping when I get time I can find something like Better Privacy for chrome. I don't want those supercookies on my machine.

The mayor of Empire that owned the Peck house wife's name was Sally Taylor. We had fun with that one. Cant' remember what his or, subsequently her married name with him, was.

I hear ya. I've struggled with the Flash problems with FF for ages (yes, tried everything), but soldiered on because of great plugin and other advantages. Then I upgraded Dragon to 13, and FF now crashes immediately upon any launch of Flash. I had to switch over to Chrome to get my work done, but no problems since. It's more of a Dragon issue, and there is no easy fix, but Chrome works fine. FF was always a hassle with anything to do with Flash.

The sad thing is, I know eventually I'll have some crazy problems in Chrome that can't be fixed, so I keep both it and FF current and Pale Moon in my back pocket as well.

I am sorry that your having such issues with FF. I used it like 6 years ago or so but I changed to Google Chrome. I personally like it better than FF. I havent seemed to have any problems with it and use it for everything.
I hope that you will learn not to hate it and grow to love it
