Q Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?


No matter how you answered that question 5 years ago, your answer was wrong.

      I've got no idea why I started a thread for this question. The intention behind it would've been better suited to the "Silver Linings" thread upstairs. In fact the "logic" behind it would've been a lot more obvious as well.

        yeah, I'm pretty much where I thought I'd be 5 years ago, but then again...I'm pretty old.

        If a person in their mid 30s answers the question, or someone right out of school...tat's going to be a different answer.

              Agreed Rottnest has lovely coastlines, although not a palm tree in sight, which is ok, and Perth, has a big country town feel, but hopefully more petrol stations are open after 6pm now?

                Wow. It must be amazing where you guys live if you can still be under the assumption that Covid is blown out of proportion. I hope your areas continue to remain unaffected.

                Here in Ohio, we're setting records daily for new cases and hospitalizations. Our medical centers are nearing capacity *now* and they expect case numbers to quadruple by Christmas. We're literally looking at the collapse of our Healthcare system in three to four weeks.

                We're so overrun with covid that hospitals are putting covid patients in emergency room beds; heart attack patients or trauma patients may have nowhere to go, meaning you can think this is an absolute farce yet still die due to covid-related issues. This is a terrible time to have a stroke or get into a car accident.

                We have one school system so overrun with covid that they're literally running out of teachers. They may to have to shutdown by Christmas. Not move to in-home schooling, but actually shutdown because there will be nobody to teach the students.

                All because some people won't wear masks and forgo a turkey dinner with grandma.

                  Hi Dan,

                  I'm sorry to hear that. Here in England, it's difficult to know exactly what's going on.

                  Some of the things here are the same - setting daily records for things. But just the other day it was reported in the MSM that hospital numbers are currently fine, 13% are taken up with covid patients and less beds are currently taken than this time last year.

                  We also have some similar issues with people having to isolate (EG teachers) but we have an unreliable testing regime, a track and trace system which isn't functioning properly at all and the vast majority of people who are having to isolate have absolutely nothing wrong with them.

                  Most of the deaths we had in the first wave were elderly people in care homes and it has been shown that the main cause of this was the government forcing care homes to take elderly people out of hospitals without testing them, many of whom turned out to have the virus.

                  For the record, (in case I sound like an uncompassionate conspiracy theorist) my own father died in a care home in April. As far as we know he didn't have the virus but he wasn't tested.

                  There is a lot we don't (and can't) know for sure here, but it seems quite apparent that we have not been served well by authority and their approach to this has been sloppy, heavy-handed and utterly profligate.

            i rolled a hilux just north of wubin, couldnt report it until i got to dalwalinnu, dave edmunds was on the cassette player singing crawling from the wreckage

    No, but I'm not 'hamstrung'. Except for fewer excursions away from home, my life hasn't changed much. I'm lucky as this mess has not caused me financial or physical harm (so far).

    I had in mind a TV show where I wrestled bison to the ground with my teeth.

    There would be no croolty, jus' prime time entertainment, an' I would flourish my submission routine with a diffrent twerky dance evry week.

    My prahblem?

    My plan was kinda overheavy on the costoom strategizin' an' less rigorous when it came to the actschwl bison -- though I did try to pet a pal's guard dog in my floorescentest evah yogah pants to kinda test the water.

    Bit me in the ass, the fkr.

    So, hey -- I coulda been famous rn if'n stuff had gone my way.

    I might even have made a guest slot on Surprise Orthodontist Talent -- bcs I didn't do so bad testin' my chompers against a frozen cucumbah.

    (An' before nowan calls me no science goober, I am fully aware that bison horns are actschwlly hair -- but the day I did the test my store was outta nachril sweetcorn.)

    Prolly naht bcs I groo as a person.

    It's a very interesting question. Those who fail to plan, their plans fail. The answer to such type of question may be wrong only for those who have contrast in their saying and doing (e.g in the case of teenagers, they might not have planned to achieve what they would have thought). But it's not necessary that every time and for everyone, its answer may be wrong.
    It's my habit since my student life, to plan everything before taking a step. And I reach exactly at the point where I aspire to.
    So, we should make a feasible plan first and then direct our struggles towards achieving that goal. In that case, answer may not be wrong.
