The scientific name is Thylarctos plummetus, and they have been known to drop 8 metres into their victims, and carry some back up the tree.
I have had one drop near me once, with fangs at the ready, and it was only my quick thinking, of quickly opening a jar of Vegemite and throwing it that saved me from curtain death.
