Strange Amazon Refund

I have Amazon Prime and I order a LOT of stuff. I've returned a few things - not many - but always got an email with a code ...dropped the item off at the UPS store where they scanned the code....and got a refund.

Did a return on a t-shirt today - Amazon refunded the $25 and told me to keep the item.

Huh?

Amazon is probably overloaded with returns from the Holidays. Probably cheaper for a good prime to keep it. Then it costs to ship it back and restock the item in the warehouse. I could be wrong, from what I understand. Amazon throws out a lot of returns or sells pallets full of returned items.

Wonder how you buy a pallet of returned items...be a good way to stock an ebay or online store perhaps.

...or end up with a big pile of junk...

Items of clothing like that, a T Shirt, even if you told them you never wore it, could have been worn and it would have been next to the skin directly. Would Amazon have washed it and resold it, unlikely, and not likely to be put in a consignment palate. That and I suspect other things are just not resalable but they still honored the refund as it is their policy. They sell so much they must be prepared to write off a percentage of it like that.

I just read that Amazon are moving to charge a dollar for some UPS returns. No further details yet.

I don't think the OP wants to spend the day on hold ;>)

Amazon pallets are sold through Liquidation companies. Some examples Liquidation.com, Go Wholesale, and a few others.

Direct Liquidation is one company that sells pallets for Walmart and JC Penny, and supposedly Amazon - https://www.directliquidation.com/ the home page actually shows the Walmart items for sale.

You can also find them on eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/28540112348...Cclp%3A4429486
Just a warning, I do not know how legimate the eBay sellers are.

My guess is they buy by pallet, etc and then whatever they can't resell easily in their off or online stores - goes into lots for 'offers' like those.

That wholesale site is fun to look through.
