I understand why AMZN is a multi-trillion dollar Company...

Their service is downright impeccable. I ordered some packs of baseball cards, and I needed to Return them because I found them cheaper somewhere else.

Here I thought I would have to get a box pack them up and send it back etc..etc..

Well with AMZN the whole process took less than 5 minutes ( excluding the drive to the ups store. ) You just show them the QR code at UPS and they take your product and handle the rest.

Just amazed how easy it was

Yup - and that's why I buy most 'stuff' from amazon. There is an entire industry (or more than one) built around the amazon returns...which are sold in bulk cheap.

Wow , so I also got an email from them telling me I got an "advance" on my refund and will get it even before the retuned items are received.

      Unreal !!!

If you have the option of returning to Kohls, you get a 10% coupon at Kohls and all of the times I have returned things there i think once out of the many the refund is processed the moment they scan the item ( as long as it is a Amazon shipped item )

You can also drop off items that are packaged with a label at a Advanced Auto store

Same. We have a local Kohls. I just hand in the package, they scan the code and take it. I get an e-mail later that day telling me the package is on its way, and a refund has been issued.

Another aspect I admire about Amazon is they keep growing, adapting, and evolving. Many Companies kind of "stagnate" and go out of business ... If I remember correctly, didn't Amazon start out just selling books?

Years ago, in the UK, I used to work at a DIY store called "Do It All", It's weird policy was that we'd take back anything for any reason with no time limit. Of course for the most part, people played fair so there was not huge amounts of returns.

But their was one that stuck in my mind. An Indian family returned a two year old smelly wooden toilet seat because it was cracked.(fair wear and tear?) Honestly, I don't know how we kept a straight face until they left, but then we cracked up laughing. Certainly not something you could sell at a discount, lol.

We had a wooden toilet seat and lid in my childhood home for years. That was until my father raised his knee up and caught it on the lip of the lid and had to go to the hospital for extensive stiches. A plastic one quickly replaced it after that.

In our store we have had people try to return something 2 years later. And we have had people bring in vacuum cleaners, for refunds, that they bought somewhere else.

They would insist that they bought it at our store from "another guy,", or even from me.

And every month, we would have at least one person insist that the vacuum cleaner they got back from being repaired...wasn't theirs. Same model number...same serial number....but not theirs.

The vast majority of the people were nice, kind, easy to deal with. But it's the silly people that stick in your memory.

I don't return Amazon things very often but when I do I print out the
labels, pack the thing up, and set it on my porch when I know the
UPS man is coming that day. I usually get refunded once he scans
the package into the tracking system.

Note that Amazon supposedly cancels accounts if you return items
    for frivolous reasons.

What do you mean by "frivolous reasons"? Just wondering. : )

It would more likely be if many items were returned by the same person on a regular basis. It would raise suspicions that the person just want's to try out something or just use it for a short time. Also to try out then perhaps buy it elsewhere for a cheaper price. The 30 day policy is rather unique and open to abuse.

Frivolous as defined in the dictionary.

The color isn't exactly the same shade as displayed on my computer.

        I changed my mind/buyer's remorse.

Overspent my budget, need the money for something else.

It's too big, small, long, short, when the dimensions were clearly stated
        in the description.

Other excuses people make in order to get a refund.

        Who knows.

If you have ever sold merch online then you know the drill.

I only request refunds or replacements for things that are broken/damaged,
the totally wrong item or incorrect quantity was shipped, etc. that is the fault
of Amazon, their third party seller, or the shipper.

I ordered a box of frozen steaks once, by the time they arrived they were
useless, and the seller replaced them. It was a $350 purchase so I wanted
        the steaks to be edible.

Let me know if any of this is unclear.

Las' year I ordered a REALISTIC MANGLED CORPSE for $399.

Ideah was to sit it outside my apartment door as a deterrent for Mr Weirdsy Keeps Lookin' At My Ass An Behavin' Like a Proto-stalkah from 2 floors below.

Prahblem was ... naht especially realistic, plus also MANGLED in the wrong way bcs an arm gaht wrenched off durin' delivery.

So I bundled the darn thing back inta its packagin', an' arranged for pickup by the gate.

SRS ISHOO: Princess fell UNCONSCIOUS next to the POOR QUALITY MANGLED CORPSE bcs she been partyin' the night before with THE LEAST CORPSELIKE PEOPLE GOWIN'.

Yeah, so next thing I know, ima writhin' around all dazed in a MUZZ'N warehouse as sum guy screamin' the hell they talkin' bout? This MF got both arms intact, an' it just smacked me in the chops with the exact same one the buyer complained was missing!

If only Amazon treated sellers with the same enthusiasm.

Customer service is great though but most every business accepts returns/provides refunds.

I will say their AI customer service chat is impressive.

A friend that ordered from amazon canceled the order because it was delayed delivery. Amazon was kind enough to explain that it was the sellers fault and apologized for it.And even gave something as a token of apology.
I doubt one can get this type of treatment from other merchant.
