That's a bite or fight waiting to happen.

That's disturbing. There's something wrong with that dog.
It needs training if not too late.

These were my exact thoughts, but I didn't want to be Captain Buzzkill as I usually am with such animal videos.

I just kept thinking, "Man, I hear kids in the background. Get them away from that dog."

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

Well Captain Buzzkill.......are we related? I'm General Buzzkill - and I agree. There's not a damned thing funny about this one and that dog needs to be rehabed right away. And I think those damned stupid brat kids need neutered young, too. WTF are the parents doing while these kids are instigating the dog acting like that. My dad would have swatted me straight off my freaking feet if he saw me teasing a dog like that. Holy cow - where the F**K are these kids parents? Might not hurt getting both the dog and the kids out of that pad.

Man, any of you seen old yeller ? The way that dog is jerking its head Id say he could have rabies.

Do not know the story. Maybe he has been doing it his whole Life.

But if I came upon a dog like that and saw that reaction I would say Rabies.

Rabies IS a neurological disease, but that is STILL a reason to get the dog checked out! If it IS rabies, MAYBE they can help the dog. If they can't cure the rabies, the dog should be put down. If the dog has rabies, and neither happens, the rabies will spread. It IS contagious and humans are susceptible as well. I recently saw a "medical mysteries" episode where a little girl caught it, apparently from a cat bite. They ended up putting the girl in a COMA to buy themselves enough time to try to save her. LUCKILY, she survived, and seemed to be ok. I think they said she was the FIRST to be so far along and be SAVED. MOST people get the shots in time to stop the progression and perhaps all the rest just DIE.

              Hey Steve,
Rabies cannot be cured. It is a death sentence.

If this dog has Rabies with the incubation period over with there is nothing that can be done. Rabies has closest to a 100% mortality rate compared to any other disease known to man.

It was thought to be 100% mortality rate PERIOD as no human has ever survived it once symptoms had set in.

The exception was that girl you mentioned. She had onset symptoms of Rabies and they put her in a Coma to let her immune system catch up to the disease and stomp it out.

From what I read, this method has never been successful in any other case.

Personally, I know I got bit back in 2000 from this scary random dog in the neighborhood I was doing work in. I was pissed and chased the dog down trying to kick it.

I didn't think much of until about a month later. I was with my brother and somehow we were talking about dogs. I told him I got bit by this dog the previous month.

His wife who is a nurse chimed in and said did I get it checked out. I said no.

She then jokingly but half seriously said that if the dog had Rabies I would probably do best to put a gun to my head and pull the trigger if the symptoms came because there is no cure for it.

              Luckily nothing happened.

Fast forward to 2006 . I was running in a neighborhood my wife and I lived in at that time.
This dog and his owner were walking a few hundred yards to the side of me. The little dog broke his owners leash and took off after me. I just laughed at the little thing but he did get a bite in my calf and drew blood.

Needless to say, I had the guy call his wife to bring down the vaccine papers of the dog to make sure everything was checked out. It must have taken an 1 hour or more for her to find the papers and drive over.

I didnt really care because I was thinking about what my sister in law said years before.

And no way was I going to take a chance. Even I did have to take those 50 shots to the belly

So I would strongly suggest if any of you guys fall prey to a dog bite to demand to get the vaccine papers from the owner.

If there is no Owner around and cannot be found then hunt the dog down and either apprehend it or just shoot it. Then the Vets can do tests to see if it is Rabid.

Most likely it will not but always safe to see.

              Robert

P.S. Also, I was reading a story about this 17 year old at Houston who had onset Rabies and doctors were totally stumped when she walked out of the Clinic after a few days and they never heard from her and never found her. They refer to her as the wild child

A LOT of people get early shots and one had a LOT of symptoms, went into a coma(induced through drugs), and was cured! So it isn't DEFINITE!

I never even said the chances of a cure are GOOD. I don't know if rabies is the MOST lethal, but it IS up there.

In short, I was trying to be NICE! If I simply said "KILL THE DOG", people would probably be VERY upset. But I DO hope the dog was helped and is ok.

ONE. ONE !! And One out of how many millions and millions have died of this disease ?.

And like I said it was once thought to have a "100% mortality rate PERIOD". Which it had up until this little girl.

One out of millions who have died from this disease may not be DEFINITE as you say but compare it to ALS and other deadly diseases the Morality rate is significantly higher. So like I said it is a close to a death sentence as you can get with a disease.

Maybe I should clarify that first sentence and say it is 'virtually a death sentence' with one maybe two exceptional cases in all historical medical documentation .

I will say it for you Steve, "KILL THE DAMN DOG ". Thats if he has Rabies. He may not.

And no the dog is not okay, Steve (if indeed he had Rabies). He is Dead. Pure and simple as that. (I seriously doubt the Vet induced a Coma and let the dog's immune system 'ramp up' and fight the Rabies like that one girl.We would have heard about it. Like I said research and you will see the method used to cure this girl has never been successful since. Never !)

                    Robert,

This is a LOT of discussion considering that my summary on the post you first responded to was:

"MOST people get the shots in time to stop the progression and perhaps all the rest just DIE.".

That DOES make it clear that It is HIGHLY lethal, and most that survive only because they get the shots EARLY. And putting a person in a COMA IS, from what I understand, a LAST RESORT, because many die from THAT.

                    OH WELL... I can't win.

I didn't mean to make it a win or lose situation. I guess sometimes I let my passion about some things get the best of me.

    Sorry to be Captain Buzzkill.

I think the people filming and laughing were adding to his agitation.

I love cute animal videos. Don't like the ones where I think the
humans are stressing, teasing the animal too much for the camera
and their YouTube or FB ... channel.

    I agree with THIS post:

Hui-Lim Ang I do not find this funny AT ALL! the owner should be looking into why the dog is doing this....instead of video-taping it and sending out for others to laugh at the dog's disorder. It is kind of cruel.
Suppose the dog has some kind of nerve problem, tic disorder, etc... This could be a VERY bad condition that could progress.

It's a moot argument anyway (rabies). This dog isn't rabid, he's been reverse trained. He's getting plenty of positive reinforcement for his little episode. The dog needs taken out of the home and given to someone who will re-train it correctly, and the kids need to be punished and re-educated about how to treat animals, what is funny and what isn't, and mom and dad need to be horse whipped for allowing this shyte to go on.

Yeah I remember when I was 13 my grandparents had a little Yorkie named Tuffy. They would leave it at my parents house for awhile. And me and my brother would do the same things where we would pretend we were going to take an object away from him.

He snarled his teeth and gnashed at us. Not as excessive as this dog.

But we were little a-holes for doing it.

Funny? yeah at the time. But looking back causing real distress on another living creature is pretty pathetic

Rabies is a "death sentence" if it reaches the brain.
Caught before that point, it can be cured 100% of the time.
