As usual here goes the star cluster - stars burning out at the same time.
At least Lauren was 89 -- and the long time widow of Humphrey Bogart.

RIP Lauren.

    Well they go in threes..

However she was almost 90, not as heartbreaking. She lived a full life.

Yes, everyone dies in threes. Because once you get to Three...you start counting again.

I hate to say this, but all I could think was "Bad timing".

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

      Really?

Try and tell that to her family and friends. I'm sure her children were just as heartbroken as Robin's daughter was...

I take it you've never lost a parent?

      God Speed Lauren!

While I agree her death saddens many I also think it's not as heartbreaking BECAUSE she lived a full and long life.

When my great aunt died at 91, we were sad, but at her funeral we all celebrated her long life.

When my mother died at 64, well, we were more heartbroken than we were at my great aunts, but still - 64 is much longer than my niece who died at 18. I won't even talk about that grief...

It's all relative. But there are degrees of grief that change with the age and circumstances of someone's death. I am sure Anna wasn't implying that Lauren Bacall's death wasn't sad or heartbreaking.

Either way, that's 2 icons lost in a day or so. Rest in peace to both.

    ... and it is not 3 - it is 5 or 6 or 7 or 8

they just go on for weeks sometimes across a broad range of 'stars'. It can include actors, singers, musicians, news anchors - you know = stars.

I think Mike's right on this one. Sad, but not tragic. She will definitely be missed.

    RIP Lauren.

Legendary actress. Legendary actor and comedian. All in one week. Very sad to me.

      RIP.

(I did actually know that she was still alive, but I'd have guessed her age at closer to 100. I didn't know she'd been remarried, after Humphrey Bogart.)

All very sad. Robin Williams, too, in the same week.

And Chapman Pincher (very famous over here: trusted and highly respected British espionage/security-services author, historian and journalist, some of whose books I've read, died the other day, aged 100, and I thought he was probably about 70 ).
