What If Question About Call Tracking...

How do you offer call tracking for a free directory site?

Do you cover the cost until site becomes super profitable?

Most call tracking companies offer $3 per number. If a directory has 300 listings that's $900 a month plus .05 cents per minute.

I have some paid listings but I want the free ones to see how many leads I'm selling them hence the need for call tracking.

How have others addressed this?

Thanks a trillion to everyone who answers. I'm in action

Unless you have deep pockets, I don't think it would be prudent to cover the costs until you are profitable. Angie's List never made profit (unless recently).

I think your prospects will have to believe your case studies from the paid one's.
    And, your site statistics.

Thank you bizgrower! I figured but wanted to try and see if there were cheaper bulk call tracking options.

I think I'm going with Callfire where they say each local number is $1 a month. I'm going to buy the first 30 and use those for my case study. I'm also considering CallRail which I've used and really liked but each additional number is $3 so it's a little much now. Thx
