CASE STUDY: Direct Mail & How I'm Using It

Hey guys,

I wanted to put this thread together to:
a) keep me accountable for this upcoming project
b) show a particular client-getting method that ANYONE can do

Most people don't like cold-calling or emailing or going door-to-door and that's just fine. It's not that those particular methods don't work... they just don't suit some people's personality. And that's completely OK.

Some people are shy and don't necessarily like calling up cold prospects. So if you're one of those people, I highly suggest you bookmark this thread.

The method I'm going to be doing is one I've never done before - so I'll be starting out just like you guys. I have no previous experience in direct mail with offline clients, although I have been VERY successful with cold-calling. I just wanted to put something together to show you guys that ANYONE can break into this market - even if you don't have thousands to throw at testing direct mail pieces or don't like getting on the phone for a few hours every day.

Here's what I'm going to be doing...

First, I'm going to put together a VERY informative webinar. I'm going to teach business owners why they need websites for their businesses and how implementing three little online tips can drastically increase their revenue over the year.

Instead of doing all this 'live' however, I'm going to put together the video using camtasia and then mimick a live webinar using one of those nifty services (I believe there's a free one in the War Room and a paid one that has WF banner spots running constantly).

Next, I'm going to send a direct mail piece to some business owners (probably in the 100-200 range) promoting this free webinar. I'll probably end up making this opt-in for access, although I'm not quite sure yet.

I'll set the 'webinar' to run twice weekly and I'll, of course, include all of my contact details at the end of the webinar so they can call for a free consultation. I'll probably also give them a free brochure for opting in (on top of the webinar) and maybe offer a free website in exchange for them test-driving one of my marketing packages.

...as you can see, I'm overloading these business owners with value. Which is something you should ALWAYS be striving to do, no matter the market.

Well that's about it. My goal is to have the webinar up and running (I'll send you a link to it) and have the direct mail pieces out by Friday. I'll keep everyone updated on my progress and how/why I'm doing the things I'm doing.

Looking forward to creating a profitable campaign! And if not, hopefully you guys can see what I did wrong and try to help me correct my mistakes. And if you guys have any input on what I'm doing and know of a quicker/easier/better way, I'm all ears!

This is very similar to what I've been trying to figure out how to do. I already purchased the webinar software, just struggling with my "webinar" script. Are you going to share yours with us once you're done with it? Please keep posting, we'll help hold you accountable .

    Tracy

    P.S. Good luck!

    Hey Tracy,

Yeah, I plan to send you guys a link to the webinar itself after I've created it and gotten some traffic. I may even do a video breakdown or something like that along with it.

This sounds very interesting Jesse. I've thought about doing the same thing. What's the webinar thread in the War Room called? EDIT: I found it. It's right here if you're a War Room Member

Looking forward to seeing your results

Sounds like a great idea to me, you would just have to focus on a direct mail letter that converts nicely, which you can find a few examples on the WF.

Good luck to you! I might implement this one day

Jesse - how is this working out for you?

I am actually going to do something similar, but I am going to use an email marketing tactic I picked up in a WSO.

I am starting next week - main service offered will be Google Places. My thought is keep it simple with just one service on the front end.

I am actually going to offer a "limited number" of reduced price packages for my Google Places services at the end of the webinar.

Just have to finish things up and start testing the funnel next week. I will keep you posted.
