Offline method - Will this work?

So i was standing around at my local casino the other night and I thought about making a couple hundred pamphlets promoting some casino/gambling product and putting them on windshields or parked cars. What are peoples thoughts on this, would it work?

    It might.

Just realize it's a scattershot approach and you might get zero response.

    Anthony,

I do a fair bit of gambling myself. I gotta tell ya, if you caught me on a losing night and were putting something underneath my wipers, I would be none too pleased! hahaha I dig where you are coming from though. I would suggest doing some research and trying to do a JV with the casino...they are definitely getting into the email marketing thang and if you have a product they can make money on just by promoting to their list, you might have some luck. That is just ONE idea, but there are quite a few ways to approach this one, I personally would not recommend the windshield approach...

It can work depending on what type of results you are looking for. I would also suggest a JV with the casino. By nature, fliers like this are provide exposure more so than direct sales. In essence, people usually glance at the flier and discard it. Most times, even when they are interested they don't keep the flier.

When exposure is the goal... the tossing of the flier is actually good for business. It generally means someone else will see the flier. It's a good idea but always consider the audience.

Yes people interested in gambling is a bad audience for spending money on marketing (their strategy is to win money through gambling lol).

Instead carpet bomb the car park of a business owners convention, or go in early and put a flyer on every seat, slip them into marketing magazines etc.

It's a numbers game if you do this, so expect to place a lot of flyers. The benefit with offline marketing like this you can often reach people that aren't reachable through online methods. Your only competition then is often people from india spamming them for SEO services.

In general though I wouldn't do it. There are better ways to reach people, that don't involve printing and distribution costs. Plus your killing the rainforest

In my experience, Casinos have a very strict 'No Soliciting' policy which they enforce vigorously.

I highly doubt that this approach will be well received and you run the real risk of sitting in jail on criminal trespass charges.

    'DON'T DO IT!'

A better idea is to ask the front desk what conventions are coming up, getting information about those events and obtaining a vendors spot.

You can then pass out as many different types of marketing and list building materials as you want.

People just love having their cars interfered with by complete strangers don't they?

Makes them feel really warm towards the company that has done it.

Doesn't cause any litter at all either because everyone is so chuffed to bits upon having their car interfered with that they carefully remove the flyer and fold it up neatly and put it in their pocket before driving home.

I wouldn't recommend this one. Casinos are serious about soliciting and security.

Well I think that the majortity of people are right in saying you probably shouldn't do it BUT why not take that same concept and put it to use in a different setting?

You have a start in coming up with the idea of placing flyers on cars at the casinos but as people help you think it through don't get discouraged because the IDEA is good. Think of another place that might not have as strict policies for this and distribute flyers there and get some results. Then you can take those results no matter how big or small and use them to tweak the process.

Get going and get some results :0)

I'd avoid going that route but as jrgattison said, use the formula elsewhere and you should hopefully get a + response.

What about asking casino management if you can offer an "E-Marketing Seminar" for Small Business Owners, using one of the casino's rooms. You and the Casino can work out the basics, but there would be an entry fee for anyone interested in attenting.

If Tim Castleman can ramble on about setting up a free Google places account for an hour... I am sure you can come up with an hour worth of content. If your 1-hour seminar is a hit, you may just have a repeatable event. Put a small container at the front with a sign that says "Enter Business Card for a Chance to Win a Free Website". Then you are adding "List Building" to your model. Just remember to make use of all the cards, and chose a "Winner".

i would use dollar bill style cards with the picture of a dollar bill on one side of the card to maximize response rates. and promote some type of "beat the system" in terms of how to gamble better (). I'm sure there would be some clickbank products like that. I think the conversions would be pretty good, rather then advertising some gambling website, a gambling product. I would scatter them all over the casino, everywhere. But very nonchalantly, and then walk out.

Reminds me of a time when my friend DW and I were at a casino, and this lady comes up to the black jack table with nothing to her name but a $50.00 chip, and she got on a roll til she had made over $10,000 and walked away, it was like a miracle for her, and I witnessed the whole thing. Then I saw her at another table later and she was losing it all again.

Doesn't that make you mad??? LOL I used to date a guy that gambled. He played $40 and won $3500, then lost it back, but justified it by saying *It was their money anyway* ummm well you could of put *their* money in MY pocket!! But anyway as far as the flyers go..security is not that tight at the casinos around here as far as the parking lots go..inside yes..but I RARELY see them in the parking lot so all of that *you're going to jail, you'll get sued..I don't know about all that if you're quick lol and someone said if he lost he would be mad to see a flyer on his car, but SOME gamblers are actually addicted and would buy a product claiming to show them how to *cheat the system* or just play better in general, but I wouldn't capatalize on someone's addiction though, these people need to actually STOP gambling, I wouldn't help them lose their money but I'll get off of my high horse now lol

I think if you make it creative and eye catching that it could work, any type of attack style marketing is good. If you make it eye catchy you have more chance of people putting it in their pocket over just tossing it in the trash

The only way to really know for sure is to try out it. Good news is that it really shouldn't cost too much. A little $$ for the flyers and a few hours of your time

Returning to your vehicle to find an advertisement stuck under your windshield wiper is always annoying. Even if you were putting coupons redeemable for $10 under the wiper, people would still be irritated. I've been a political candidate and never let anyone put my pamphlets on windshields!

However, finding a place gamblers congregate where you are able to approach them is a good idea.

I got to agree with Daniel and everyone else who is saying to do this.

Don't go putting fliers on cars in the parking lot of a business. Generally that's considered private property. Or, get permission.

But if you could find some way to JV with them that'd be awesome for them and you.

I just bought a WSO that is about putting cards on cars to direct people to CPA offers.

I've done a lot of guerilla marketing flyering cars and I have learned to keep a watch out for people seeing me putting something on their car. I just keep walking til they pass me.

Push has almost come to shove a number of times. People hate it, but it can get business.

I would definitely steer clear of casinos. Yikes.

I recommend business cards over flyers. Less obtrusive. I think people
respond better to something smaller in that situation, and when people litter the parking lot, it doesn't look nearly as bad.

Also, people will often put the card in their wallet and call months later, stating they don't even know how the card ended up in their wallet but they want to hire you, (That was for a limo company I drove for.)

Don't put anything on the windshield. Drivers side door it best. If it might
rain, don't put it on the glass, because when it dries a layer of paper can
stick and be tough to get off with even with a razor blade.

The crack between the doors is safe if it looks like rain.

Don't put anything where you come close to the door handle.

People see you from across the way and think you are trying to
    check for unlocked cars.

I've been surrounded by cops on two occasions. One time, had
taser pointed at me, got cuffed and sat in the back of the squad
    car for 20 minutes.

This is a great method but don't do it on a casino. A iPhone 4S offer will work better if you place flyers on College campus. There are tons of gigs on fiverr of people willing to distribute x amount of flyers on college campuses for just $5. Do simple zip-submits and have each student give away 500 flyers and your will make some decent $$$

    Hey Anthony,

Your method will probably not fly, but I found something that is working right now!
