Using Wills script with slideshow

22 replies
I just had a customer ask for a small slideshow in their mobile site and while it is suggested not to use to many graphics they wanted it.

This time I decided to go with Wills mobile script because it is great fro this type of site.

I was wondering if you can check the moc up I did to see if it works on all phones.

Please tell me if it loaded ok on your mobile and what you think.

Quentin

    The site looks great! Excellent job mate.

    Which script did you use? I'm not familiar with Will.

    Site looks great. I'm also using Will's script. Do you have any documentation on how to add a slideshow? Also the font in the header looks great, I've just been using the standard font. I'm pretty raw when it comes to programming, are those 2 things easy enough to explain or does it take some advanced programming knowledge?

    Thanks Quentin

    WOW ! Awesome works great, loads fast iphone 3g. the slideshow loaded, and I had to scroll up a bit to see the full picture, it was only displaying about half the pic on the intial load. Still very cool, defintely adding this. Thank you Quentin

    I bet that cost some $$

    Quentin,

    The site loads fine and looks great on my Samsung Galaxy (US Cellular) with my phone's standard browser. I checked it out on my Firefox browser on my phone and looks great on there too. Thanks for posting the link to the script, I'll definitely be implementing this on future sites if they want one as it looks great.

    Best regards,
    Chris

    Nice going Quentin. Looks good!

    Works well on both my iphone and Blackberry.

    You know me though, I was interested to test it with the javascript disabled and I like the way it still just shows the first image even without the js enabled. It's always a great idea to suit both types of users.

      Incidentally, in the original version of the code below, the "gif" suffix is missing off "second car"

      var image1=new Image()
      image1.src="firstcar.gif"
      var image2=new Image()
      image2.src="secondcar.gif"
      var image3=new Image()
      image3.src="thirdcar.gif"

        Hey Quentin,
        Thanks a lot for the script man.I have a question for you or anyone else...
        I tried to add more images in the following way:

        var image1=new Image()
        image1.src="firstcar.gif"
        var image2=new Image()
        image2.src="secondcar.gif"
        var image3=new Image()
        image3.src="thirdcar.gif"
        var image4=new Image()
        image4.src="forthcar.gif"

        var image5=new Image()
        image5.src="fifthcar.gif
        "

        The problem is that i can't manage to make it work past the image 3. What to do ?
        Thank you !

          In the second part of the script, around the middle, change ...
          if (step<3)

          replace the number "3", with the number of pics you're using. In your example, that would be "5"

              Well, the thanks need to go to Quentin and WILL for posting this script. I am just relaying what he already posted. I'm sure if you Google the transition effect code, you'll find plenty. Or, someone will post it here soon.

                Oh yeah.. i hit thank you for both of you... And the only reason i asked for the code is because i'm not good with html/php/java script or whatever so.. if i find it somewhere else i may not be able to implement it anyways.. lol
