Best price for online printing?

Hey guys,

I needed to get 500 8.5x11 flyers printed up, and I am looking at 100 lb gloss aqueous book, and I called my local printer, and they wanted $265. I looked online and Gotprint has them for $65+8 shipping.

I have heard that Gotprint is cheap quality - is that true?

Regardless, what would YOU recommend?

Jeremy

Depends, are you going to be handling the design and preparation of the flyers ?

If so I would recommend getting a reseller license in your state and then you can become a "print broker" or "print reseller" which opens the doors to exclusive companies that give you really cheap pricing on everything.

    Example - 4over.

Otherwise, if your not handling it your going to need some "hand holding" then I just recommend checking out some printing companies like overnightprints, uprinting, etc

I've used Brochure Printing | Color Magazines, Postcard Printing, Low Cost Business Cards | Catalogs | Posters | PrintPelican.com several times and have always been very happy with the quality.

You need to understand the difference between your local commercial printer and many online printers. With your local printer you pay the set up for your job. Could be films, plates or other name. If you have multiple jobs price may go down if they can impose more on the sheet size.

The online printers do what's called "gang run." They fit as many jobs on the sheet and everyone shares in the set up cost. That's why they all have standards and if you deviate from them it'll cost more. Certain online printers will use digital (color copier) printing for low print runs and this can be less quality. Gang run was created to compete with digital printing many years ago. The internet has allowed "local" printers to become online printers specializing in gang run giving us the much better pricing for standard print jobs.

If the quality of your file is correct your print job should come out right. If not, dispute it like anything else.

I've used a few different ones, but only for postcards, business cards, and thank you cards. I like Vistaprint the best. Their quality is good.

Vistaprint is horrible quality compared to uPrinting, I have never seen a print shop with as bad quality as Vistaprint. Have used uPrinting ever since.

Kabir i would say you are right here, I dont know why vista print is not looking after their well established business by keeping an eye of Production side more than marketing side. I suppose the other company mentioned by you is going to replace vista print if they expand toward rest of the world like vista has.

    coming to the Flyers,
Jermy, Printing is a Deep see, it has many Black and white area in the industry. You have to see and choose what quality, what price and turn around you or your client can afford. Then you make decision to forward your job.

I have mostly used vistaprint with success. Not sure of their costs and you REALLY have to pay attention to what you are ordering (I once received business cards that where more microbusiness cards...so funny! I used them anyway to catch people's attention) Plus I love the fact they are putting people in my city to work.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

I like GotPrint.com because they are inexpensive PLUS they are in my state (so, shipping is not as much). If you are concerned about their quality, use PrintPlace.com and have them match GotPrint's pricing.

Most online printers are very high quality...they all use state of the art offset presses, and high quality paper. The differentiating factor for most printers is their quality control and customer service.

EVERY PRINTER ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET IS CAPABLE OF SCREWING UP YOUR ORDER...just know that going into this whole process. I've heard every printer from GotPrint to OvernightPrints "oh they suck"...well they dont suck.

I am a print broker...I use many online printers and I use a local printer...I know what I'm talking about. The best deals in printing are the ones you negotiate for yourself. (That piece of info is golden)

Alot of the online print sites are actually brokers. Printpellican for example, and you'd never know it because it doesn't matter...They have outstanding service, thats what matters....in my opinion, its that aspect of a printer that is most valuable....because they'll bend over backward for you in crunch time.

Gotprint has the lowest pricing in most categories...but all these printer sites...its the same high quality...very hard to tell the difference between them. PrintPlace is great, Uprinting...they all give great service and their sites are easy to use. Your not going to go wrong with any of them.

NOW FOR THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE:

VistaPrint ! Their stuff is garbage. You can hold a vistaprint business card next to a Bizcard from any other printer and you will start to laugh your pants off...the difference in quality is a joke.

If your buying from Vistaprint...and you think its great quality...I have news for you...you don't know what quality printing looks like. I dont'say that to be offensive...I say it to encourage you to pick a different printer. You'll thank me for it later, I guarantee it.

Hope any of that was usefull for you

I have used gotprint for some business cards. My wife just ordered some yesterday. The quality has always been great and the price is right. I haven't tried with Flyers yet though.
