A twist on rent-a-site model: Ad Space?

Hi all,

I know that the rent-a-site model is tried and trusted - but what about renting advertising space on the site to multiple related local businesses?

For example, if I had a site called 'washingtonplumbers.com' and the main page was a directory type page that only listed 10 plumbers in the washington area. Then could charge local plumbers $15 per month for one of these 10 slots. Then could have more expensive ad space such as a top of the page banner, sidebar and beneath the main listing. This could potentially bring in much more than just renting the site out to 1 plumber.....

I imagine this would have a big selling point over other more generic directory type sites, as this one is focused on plumbers from the washington area and only lists 10 plumbers in the main listing, so they get more exposure than other directories etc, all great benefits when pitching to businesses.

Also, I guess it would be easier convincing a plumber in the area to part with $15-$50 per month than it might be to get them to rent an entire site for several hundred....

Anyone use this business model for your rental sites? any advice/tips?

Thanks,
Steve.

I am testing a site just like you are describing now,
It's done and rank on top of pg #1 for the search term.

Now I need to get on the phones to get a happy client.

      StevieJk,

I will try to give you some information here... You must use the Term
"Advertising" not rent a site, Site Rental or anything else. What you will find Business Owners Understand Advertising nothing else.

They get confused fast in the world of IM, so you have to learn to speak their business owner language. My question is, why would you want to make 10 or 20 $15 sales when you can make one sale for $150 to $500 a month depending on the site " Keyword Phrase or Search Term". I tried the method your describing about 3 years ago and it was a pain in the butt.

My Suggestion one advertiser per site... Give them Exclusive Rights all over the site... Charge a Set Up fee... and they will never leave if you are giving them Laser Targeted Leads.

With that being said...I put out "The Ultimate WSO" 9 months ago. It describes this method unlike anything you have seen...

You can check it out in my signature...Look at the reviews and Responses... This will cut your work load down big time...

Again...The Advertising model is amazing if done correctly...if not it can be a huge failure IMHO i know we failed in a lot of tries til we got it refined down to a Perfection... Hope this helps... Best of Luck
