Potential Local Business Leads

I am currently in a position where I spend several hours every day browsing UK business websites.

I see:
Poor websites
Okay websites
Websites with social network integration
Websites with spelling mistakes
etc etc

These websites are for:
Pubs
Restaurants
Shops
Various companies
Churches
Charities
And a whole variety of other folk

90% of them are local businesses that mainly trade offline, a few of them are web stores.

At the end of each day I could end up with a categorised list of UK local businesses that are likely in need of some sort of web assistance.

My preferred situation would be to hand the leads over to someone who would pay either per lead, or per converted lead.

I have fairly strong basic marketing/web developing/social media knowledge, so I'd be able to spot the gems fairly easily.

Does anyone have any idea for anything I could do with all these potential leads?

Typically, people only pay for the leads who have expressed interest in Internet Marketing help.

I thought that might be the case.

Would there not be any value in businesses who are attempting to reach out online but struggling to do so on their own (i.e. poor website, rarely updated social network profiles, etc)?

Those businesses are pretty easy to locate with semi-advanced scrapers. The issue is that even though they do need our help, very few realize the potential, have the funds, or know what they need.

Gotcha - I guess in order to make use of all these potentials I'd need to sell them something myself!

You could also first call them up and qualify them based on the above 3 criteria max stated... 1) They realize the potential, 2) They have the funds, and 3) know what they need.

If you get qualified leads, I'd bet you would find takers.

Personally, at the moment I don't cater to non-local businesses and don't buy leads but might consider doing so if I could verify they were really serious leads that don't mind working with a consultant based in Nigeria.

There may still be some consultants who might appreciate the list even if the leads are not qualified, especially if you can narrow down the results to specific locations.

The consultants could then do their magic by either sending a targeted and personalised direct mail letter or ring them or visit them depending on their experience and how they like to work.

One sneaky trick you could do is set up a web site for 'x location's ugliest or worst looking web site"and list them on there and then notify them that their site is up for an award for the worst site.

They will be mortified and be forced to reconsider their site.

The leads would then be a lot warmer by the time you sell them. It's very cheeky but you would be doing their business a huge favour in the long run ha ha
