Phone Headset Recommendation

I'm dialing a couple hours a day so its time to invest in a headset. Anyone have recommendations of one that is a good value for a shoestring budget? I looked on Amazon but really don't trust the reviews on there any more because of past experiences.

Thanks.

    A little off topic Paul,

Did you and Chris come to a meeting of the minds?

Check out Netcom ... they have good quality and average priced.

Anything from Radio Shack is fine and they'll have something in your budget. I use a $20 headset and it works great.

...wait. Do they have Radio Shack in The Sticks?

      j/k sort of

i never really liked plantonics because of the sound quality.
then I heard they did great stuff.

I was too entrenched with netcom to find out.

I have heard form lots of people plantronics is awesome.

You've reminded me that I had a Plantronics phone headset that lasted for about 8 years. Got it around 1997 and used it through 2006. Never replaced any parts. Paid about $100 for it originally and loved using it every day. As a credit manager for 4 years 2002 - 2006 I was on the phone all the time. Forgot it there when I left the job, d'oh.

Really, though, obsessing over which headset is a waste of time. Just having a headset at all is transformational: your hands are free to type, sort through papers, etc. and it makes a huge difference in your personal sense of freedom and competence. No more shoving the phone into the crook of your neck and shoulder, and trying to shuffle through notes.

It's quite possible.... This is the only headset where I spent more then 50$ on so the world might look like a nail. it DID make a big difference over my last benchmark (one of those cheap USB logitech).

I'll deff. try netcom when I have a bit more dineros though.

PS: when is the best time to reach you on skype these days btw???

I use a wireless gigaset phone... that has a regular headset jack...
with a wired headset (for like $10). So you have a wireless phone
with a wire to your ear. For me that's the most flexible and yet the
cheapest solution. Easy to replace too...

I would suggest investing in a high end headset that will allow your prospects to clearly hear your expanded vocabulary.

When you say high end you don't necessarily mean price right? High end quality is probably better. Yes, I know high price equals high quality, unless it doesn't. Bought one from radio shack (under $30) that works well. Don't know what it was cuz I just let the sales guy do my buying for me.

      Anyway, that's all I have.

Sorry Tom it was an inside joke.

I wholly agree with you, these cheap units are totally fine and I use one myself with no problems.

      Recommendation #1 - Don't resurrect old threads...

      Recommendation #2 - Plantronics

Recommendation #3 - Amazon & YouTube, tons of excellent reviews on headsets. That is how I narrowed my choice down.

I can't recommend the headset I'm using, since I make my phone calls from my PC using a Logitech headset, which does not match your specifications for a standard phone headset. For those situations I've always used Plantronics for clients we sold phone systems to. (Over 5 years ago.)

Found something on Amazon for $32. Great reviews. Got it, and it will work just fine.

What's the issue with old threads?

Why would you choose to resurrect a thread from 2 years ago to ask a question, instead of asking in a new thread?

It forces everyone to re-read posts that may no longer be relevant today.

Some forums prefer it that way so there aren't multiple threads on the same topic.

      Duly noted.
