Hi PIPster I have customized my PIP site. Please give me your opinion. I also need your help regarding BLOG. In order to integrate my blog design with my customized PIP site, I had tried through day 11 training guide but it was not working. I think it is only for PIP original (default) site......am I right to say that? Please advice. Regards J. S |

Hi JS, our site looks really good. I am quite envious now. It really looks neat and clean and does not look to busy which to me is good. Well done. I am not sure about the blog though, I seem to think that you should be able to integrate any site with blogger as I had no trouble but I do not know how to help you. Regards Phil |

Hi JS, Your site look nice and clean, I am amazed how you customize everything. I am sure that is reason why you can't integrate your blog, because integrations goes with original PIPS. I am do it myself without any problem. I hope that help. Mira |

Judson First of all, the site looks really good! Kudos for making it your own. I also completely changed mine, and am much happier with it ![]() As far as your blog template, I'll see if I can help you out. The first step is to make sure you are using Internet Explorer as your browser. I first tried it in Firefox, for some reason "copy and paste" adds funny characters into the code, causing it not to work properly in the Blog template. As for the layout, here's what I suggest (Please read the whole post before starting, it will be easier to understand I think!): In your editing program (NVU, etc) bring up the HTML code for your main website, such as your homepage. Take out all the content in the center section, this is where your main blog posts will go. Here is the code that has to be there for your posts to show up properly <Blogger> <BlogDateHeader> <h3><$BlogDateHeaderDate$></h3> </BlogDateHeader> <h2> <a href="<$BlogItemPermalinkUrl$>" title="<$BlogItemTitle$>"><$BlogItemTitle$></a><BlogItemUrl></BlogItemUrl></h2> <div class="blogPost"> <$BlogItemBody$><br /> </MainOrArchivePage> <$BlogItemControl$> This is the basic code, it will be longer when you have comments enabled, etc. Next, go to the table on the left side of your page. This would be a good place for you to put your article index (Previous Articles). I suggest removing the content in the "Add by Google, coming soon" section, and putting your index there. Code needed here is as follows: Previous Articles: <BloggerPreviousItems><a href="<$BlogItemPermalinkURL$>"><$BlogPreviousItem Title$><br> </a><br/> </BloggerPreviousItems> Articles Archives: <BloggerArchives> <a href='<$BlogArchiveURL$>'> <$BlogArchiveName$></p></a> </BloggerArchives> These code sections are already in your existing template, you just need to find the right place for them. This is going to take some trial and error on your part, and it can get frustrating! The first time I undertook this, I took at least an hour to get it how I wanted it ![]() Hopefully this post will help. If you want, you can have a look at my site, to get an idea of what the heck I'm talking about. Homepage Blog Don't hesitate to come back if you need more help, we're always here! |

Hi Judson I think you have done a great job in changing your site and wish you lots of luck with it. Just a minor thing I noticed at the top of the right hand column under the Dotcomology logo the word "Subscribe" is touching the right hand border and appears to push that column wider. Cheers for now Cyn |

Hey, JS: Very nice work. I like the layout. It's great when a PIPSter learns how to work on the technical side of things and make changes. I always say it gives us a greater sense of empowerment. Keep up the good work! GT |

Hey Judson, glad I could help! I just checked your Blog page, looks like you almost have it! There looks to be an error in the code you have in the "Archive" box though. I think the error is in this section of code: <span style="color: white;"><BloggerArchives>"> <BloggerArchives> <a href='<$BlogArchiveURL$>'> <$BlogArchiveName$></p></a> I think if you delete the characters in blue in the above example, this may fix your problem, as these look like extra characters. One other thing I would recommend is changing the color of your Archive and Previous text (within the boxes, the Titles look fine) to white, to match the rest of the text on the left side, and to make them easier to read. Looking good! One more thing, and then you've got it ![]() If you look at your Blog page, it the top left corner, you will see some characters that should not be there (">">">). I think after you edit your template, they somehow duplicate in the code, as this happened when I edited mine to. Anyway, here's where to fix it: (This code is at the top of your page) <script>if (typeof(window.attachCsiOnload) != 'undefined' && window.attachCsiOnload != null) { window.attachCsiOnload('ext_blogspot'); }</script>"> <meta name="description" content="Testing<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.blogger.com/static/v1/common/js/327583163-csitaillib.js"></script> <script>if (typeof(window.attachCsiOnload) != 'undefined' && window.attachCsiOnload != null) { window.attachCsiOnload('ext_blogspot'); }</script>"> <meta name="keywords" content="Testing<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.blogger.com/static/v1/common/js/327583163-csitaillib.js"></script> <script>if (typeof(window.attachCsiOnload) != 'undefined' && window.attachCsiOnload != null) { window.attachCsiOnload('ext_blogspot'); }</script>"> <meta name="Revisit-after" content="30 days"><meta name="Rating" content="GENERAL"> Just delete the characters in blue (these are the extra ones you see in the corner) and you should be all set! ![]() As for giving me back something, we're all here to help each other. That's what makes this forum work! Just pay it forward, that's all I ask... Aaron |

Hi, Nice work......your PIPS banner in the middle of the page looks like its being pulled by a rubber band so you might want to check your image size there... Other than that good job! Take care Jeff Casmer |

Hi Dream Builder Yes, I did it myself by using Kompozer (free) software. Actually I know nothing about HTML and web building knowledge....but just experienced and tried it with some trial and error before getting it. Cheers J.S |
