I am new to to internet marketing and only start to learn the concept. Still reading various posts and understand what other people are up to. I read from several posts that some people before start marketing a product do some testing. Can someone tell me what does this testing procedure involve?

One example is 'split testing' - This is where you would run two different ads for the same product or service. The ads could differ in many ways - the words you use in the title and text of the ad, and/or the order of the words, the layout/format/colors. Split testing could also be used for email messages, and again, the wording would change, you could also test the receipt and open rate using plain text in one and using HTML (hyperlinks) in the other. Even the website itself - you could have two that layout differently - different colors, etc. By layout I mean 1, 2 or 3 columns, ads on the left or right, some with lots of graphics and banners, some without. |

Funny you should mention this! Not 1/2 an hour ago, I made a blog post on this very subject, and why it is so important. You can check it out if you like: Fish Or Cut Bait? Preserving Your Business Budget By Testing The Waters Aaron |
