Technical Question

When I try to display one of the banners from the pipsite the text for the location also shows up on the page. How can I stop this from happening?

If even one little bracket "<" or ">" is left off of the top or bottom you will get weird results.

This is also true with opening and closing tags - for every open you need to close

So for instance if you have opened with "<a href" etc you need to close the block with "</a>"

So what I suspect is that when you are copying the code you are leaving off something from the beginning or end.

If I knew exactly what you are talking about I might be able to identify what it is...

Hi Pat

If I go through Plug in Profit Site banner Ads and copy the third banner code on the page and then paste it into a page on my blog it shows the banner as well as the html text code. I don't see any thing in the code that is not closed.

Thanks

Can you paste it here? Not from the PIPs site, from what you have on blogger.

Now that I know it is Blogger - sometimes I have issues with HTML there - when you are editing are you in the regular posting window or are you in the tab that says HTML?

(bear with me on that it has been awhile since I used Blogger)....

This may be it - the code in PIPS is for a website - the entire block.

For banner sites and maybe blogger all you need to paste is the Display URL (Img) and destination URL.

Something like this: (1st one is destination and 2nd is Display)

<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.the3rdpartynetx.com/pips.html">
<img src="http://www.images.pluginprofitsite.com/banners/newpipsbanner2.gif" width="728" height="78" border="0"></a>

Save it and see what happens when you publish.

If not working then you may also need to hyperlink the URLs - you know the little icon that looks like a globe with a chain around it a the top of the edit window?

Highlight the URLs - just the http:// etc and then control+c to copy - click the icon and then paste the URL into the box that popped up (be sure you don't have http:// twice - they supply it once and then you are copying).

Yes - it's ok - just not in signatures or used to advertise.

...but I think my answer is above (the last try!) lol.

(your site looks so nice - very simply and cleanly you have made it unique.)

Thanks Pat

You are so helpful! I got it to work. I didn't have the blank in the html code.

Do you see there are just two URLs? (http://www.)

#1 the desination: (/pips.html)

<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.the3rdpartynetx.com/pips.html">

#2 the Image/Graphic/Display (img scr)

<img src="http://www.images.pluginprofitsite.com/banners/newpipsbanner2.gif" width="728" height="78" border="0"></a>

I think you will see the code you are using has other stuff in the block of code.

Now here is a tip from the master of copy and paste programming: (lol)

Copy mine and just change the URL to yours.

the3rdpartynetx.com/pips.html - is my sales page

change that to quickfinancialfreedom.com/pips.html

(and be very careful not to touch anything else - like be sure not to delete any " dittos " or < brackets > )

You should have that rel="nofollow" target="_blank"

This is what will open the link in a new window, which leaves your blog open.

If you don't have it then when they click the link your blog will be shut down and they may not know how to go back.

You should use that rel="nofollow" target="_blank" anywhere you have links inside of another page.
