Once you have decided on the appropriate keywords/key phrases for each page, you need to work these keywords into the visible text on each page to be optimised. Remember that you are writing for users, not search engines, and the text must look natural.

All the appropriate HTML tags on each page should be optimised for best effect. These include:
1) Title tag.
2) Meta keyword tag.

Thanks for this good information, it was helpful.

I checked out the HTML validation service and put my urls in and most of them came up with 40 odd errors.
I'm not sure if that's a problem or not considering some of the top ranking sites have more than that even.

There are certain keywords you can rank for without doing any link building. It's best in this case to use a software like Market Samurai that will give you all the information needed to do this.

But for keywords that have stronger competition the infos you provided are great.

Yes there are Google Webmaster Tools that can find broken links.

I have observed a phenomenon no one that I know of has ever noticed and that is when you are looking up your link popularity in Google you write
link:www.yourdomain name.com and I get Results 1 - 10 of about 12 linking to www.yourdomainname.com
But when youadd 2 spaces between link: www.yourdomainname.com,
results: Results 1 - 10 of about 137,000 for link: www.w
These are the differing results for my website. Your websites may be different.
But you will be glad to know that Google recognizes many more websites as linking to yours than is usually thought to occur. You can see many prominent sites that you would not see with the link:www.yourdomainname.com written right next to each other.

What can we use now for keywords, or are they obsolete. I went to Google keyword tool today, and it tried to load but didn't. Is this keyword tool gone? It pulled up in Google, but wouldn't load.
