I am looking for a little assistance. Does anyone have a specific course of action that they do on a daily or weekly basis? I trying to kick off the New Year with good work ethics from home but am running into trouble keeping focused. Does anyone have a check off list of the things they must get accomplished on a daily or weekly basis. I'm trying to set up a work schedule in excel to try to keep in on task. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lisa |

Hi, Lisa: This is a very good question and one we all struggle to stay on top of, no matter how focused, organized and diligent we are. The problem I've always experienced is that in Internet Marketing, I am learning so many new things on a continual basis, my priority list keeps changing! lol - I need a priority list that keeps my priority list focused! The other thing I've experienced is that first, we learn WHAT the priorities are; then we learn how to do them; then we practice them until we get good at doing them; then we work at applying them with intense focus to reap the benefits. But for most of us, until we start seeing the benefits, it is hard to stay focused on following those steps. I don't have a formalized spreadsheet to help create focus, but I do make lists to keep me on track. One of my online mentors, Brian Tracy, has always recommended making lists, then prioritizing the items on the list, then working on the highest priority items first. It's hard to be diligent in doing that, but if a person does do it, it works to improve your productivity and your results. Brian has many motivational resources available (I promote them on my website and blog  ). I don't know, off hand, if he has the type of organizational resource you are looking for. Possibly. Also, I belong to a membership group that includes resources that help you learn effective marketing strategies and how to prioritize them for maximum daily productivity. Again, this may not be what you are looking for, but if you read my web biz blog post posted on January 4, 2010 (30 Ways to Get Traffic), the resource highlighted there was created by this group for the benefit (and marketing focus) of the members. I feel you do and then make a daily timetable and stick to it one thing at a time. Write it down for it be to effective and stick near your Laptop : #1. Take Action. The most important thing you can do ever is take action. #2. Take it one thing at a time Not only is it important to take action, you really really need to do one thing at a time, whether or not it's the best way or not. This is really important. When you're brainstorming, you can think about all the possibilities, but when working on implementation, FOCUS. Don't get scattered. Focus. #2. You need a business plan and/or a Marketing plan. Your business Plan. What will your business and marketing consist of? Mine, Main Website Blog Squidoo RSS Feeds Forum Marketing Solo Ads Free Traffic Exchanges Networking Sites Bookmarking Sites Backlinking I have more Under each of those I list the task that need to be done and the tools I use. I have set times I work on my business. In my case it's not an actual time of day, instead it is the times during the day when I will have time. I don't work on a traditional schedule. If during these periods I am not working on one of the above task I am wasting my time. I would make a specific marketing plan and include all of the ways you intend on building your business. Then list within those categories the steps that need to be taken. Then work on each task until it is completed. That means to set goals for yourself. Then once something is completed go reward yourself, do your favorite thing, eat ice cream, smooch on your partner/ husband/ wife and enjoy your achievement. Then once you are done enjoying get back to work. Setting and achieving goals is one of the most rewarding things you can do and it will give you the motivation to move forward. |
