Microsoft patches IE, admits it knew of bug last August

Don't wait - go to Windows Updates and download the patch.

You can find Windows Updates in your Start Menu under All Programs.

p.s. 3:00pm PST

I can't find the actual download link going through the usual Microsoft maze.

When I find the download link I will post it. If somebody else finds it first, please post it here.

I've pretty much had it with IE. I just refuse to use it now.

Me too - haven't for quite some time.

...but the fact is I can't uninstall it - it is part of Windows and there is no option to remove it in 'Add/Remove' programs. I don't want to create a crisis like I have had before trying to remove it where I was cut off from the internet.

With IE just sitting on your PC you are at risk from the security breach(S) even if you don't use it.

Well - pretty surprising actually - my regular automatic Windows update took care of the patch on both my PCs -

I will still try to find the direct link for those of you who do not have automatic updates.

It is so heartening to know Microsoft is concerned about this 5 months after being told they have a breach.

...makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy.

Thanks for the notice Pat! I have automatic updates turned on but I still checked just in case.
