Depends on what keywords you're going to target. Doing proper keyword research ahead of time will either make or break your new site.

I wrote a blog post the end of last year that goes in-depth regarding picking a good domain name and doing the necessary research before you actually get started. It may be of help to you:

I agree with Alan.

Real estate is tough. You will really have to pick a very specific sub niche.

I have a site in a very competitive niche...it took me almost a year to get to Page 1 in the search engines. That's working 4-8 hours a day...every day.

It can be done. Good luck....

Hi,

Usually when you think you have a nice little niche picked out with specific keywords you can even dig deeper and get even better smaller tiny niches that can be a goldmine...

Good luck with your new site...

There are some great companies in India that do SEO (search engine optimization) to get your new site listed in the top pages of the engines.

It's a must!

I don't know what's the best thing. I have plowed many hours into websites with a good idea and got zero hits in a year. I have set up free blogs that made it to page one google search with sad neglect. I don't think it's cut and dried. I think we need to have a number of sites going. Not all in the same direction either. It's just like any other business, experiment, test your results, improve on winning concepts, Plan for the long haul. Winners never quit. If you didn't quit, you are winning.
