You don't really need PLR content to get ideas. You can get them from any book and turn them into your own product because "ideas" aren't copyrightable.

Don't overcomplicate it. Make 2 levels. The less choice your prospect has, the better. On the other have always a premium version of your product. There's always someone that wants premium whatever....

The problem with PLR is that PLR content is mostly of poor quality. It's about quantity most of the time.

Why would the original author care about the quality if his/her name doesn't end up on...

That's because most of his products are a waste of time and money. He's a great copywriter but a poor teacher.
