In the places page what does it say next to "edit this page" at the top left, which is what I assume you clicked to edit.
If it says "Business Owner?" you should be able to claim it in the usual...

I use Thunderbird and it works OK. I think you must be setting up the accounts incorrectly, does your host have a knowledge base with info to help you set up your email accounts in Outlook or TBird?...

This is the list I generally use at the moment. You need to manually submite to EZA and Buzzle but the others are auto submit. Although some change the rules so keep updating the list yourself.

I don't pretend to be a pizza restaurant, I get the site ranked for the search terms then rent the site to business(es). The idea is to get the site top or near top of the SERPS for the search term...

When you see an image with a word or numbers that you have to type in to send a message, sign up to soemthing, that is Captcha. Most decent tell a friend scripts will come with the Captcha option.
