Yes you can, i use MRR/PLR too for my upsells, as long as your wso is original.. give a try for that :) i used to do PLR for "done for you" sales funnel upsells if my wso is about list building :)

try to get free traffic from reddit and pinterest, i use it myself and work for my blog too... the quality of thoose site is great..

i think trust factor is the key for your list to take action . if your site doesn't feature your face. you need to introduce yourself at your very first email . hope this help :)
