To be honest, its really hard to market web design to clients. I`ve tried. you best bet is to give out free samples and examples of your work, design a website for a company that needs it and charge...

The job I learned from the most would be doing customer service for a small promotional company. Nothing will teach you faster about sales then dealing with customers on a day to day basis
