No, I don't consider Upwork fees 'ridiculous' - you earned money using that platform so why shouldn't they be paid for GIVING you business?
If you have a 5 star rating you should be able to increase...

You get different positions at different locations. Google shows you the average.


If you're #40 at your location but #1 somewhere in China and Russia and Latvia and Nigeria, you could be #1.5...

Creates multiple theme based backinks and try to resubmit sitemap again. Hopefully Google Search Console with show you actual positions soon. Sometime Google Search console previous average positions...

Probably not bit.ly in its entirety, but they surely can see the redirect-url, and possibly flag that or the bit.ly URL (not domain).

If you're concerned about people not clicking on it because of the shortned URL, you can look into using a custom short URL too.

Yes, but of course depend how many times you post, just that I noticed bitly can easily get flag like that.
