[CLOSED]What is difference between html and html5?

Hi Karthikaqpt,

There is no actually difference between HTML and HTML5. It just added a new elements (tags), removes old ones and clarifies some technical to simplify matters for web developers and browsers.

As in every programming language, after a while, you'll end up with revised version of that language. That means simplifying and/or adding new functions into current language. Above posts describe what are those differences.

Note that what most people think of as "HTML" is actually HTML4 - developed in the late 90's.
HTML5 is basically a modern update with snazzy new stuff to slow our computers down even more. :-)

In the html document type declaration is longer, character encode is longer, vector graphics is possible using technologies, work with all old browser.
html 5 document type declaration is simple, character encoding declaration simple, vector graphics integral part, support by all new browser.

The difference between HTML and HTML5 is that in HTML5 their is advance level features for building a web Page and it is also used for responsive designing.

HTML5 supports ultra HD video

difference between HTML and HTML5 is that video and audio are not part of HTML while these both are integral parts of HTML5 specifications.

Video and Audio processing are not part of HTML while these both are integral parts of HTML5

Html5 is more power full and easier than Html4, It have lot of new tags like <header>, <footer>, <nav>, <audio>, <video>, <main> etc. It also support graphics.

Html

Doctype declaration in Html is too longer
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">

character encoding in Html is also longer
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

Audio and Video are not part of HTML4

Vector Graphics is possible with the help of technologies such as VML, Silverlight, Flash etc

It is almost impossible to get true GeoLocation of user browsing any website especially if it comes to mobile devices.

Html5 use cookies.

Not possible to draw shapes like circle, rectangle, triangle.

Does not allow JavaScript to run in browser. JS runs in same thread as browser interface.

Works with all old browsers

Html5

DOCTYPE declaration in Html5 is very simple "<!DOCTYPE html>

character encoding (charset) declaration is also very simple <meta charset="UTF-8">

Audio and Videos are integral part of HTML5 e.g. <audio> and <video> tags.

Vector graphics is integral part of HTML5 e.g. SVG and canvas

JS GeoLocation API in HTML5 helps identify location of user browsing any website (provided user allows it)

It provides local storage in place of cookies.

Using Html5 you can draw shapes like circle, rectangle, triangle.

Allows JavaScript to run in background. This is possible due to JS Web worker API in HTML5

Supported by all new browser.

You can create rich application if you use HTML5, HTML 5 has canvas, it's so cool to create shapes, drag and drop.....

The main difference between HTML and HTML5 is that audio and video are not part of HTML while these are integral parts of HTML5 specifications..

Just think of 5 as a version number. Some of the major updates to HTML include more context around the information. Things like content and author tags let search engines and browsers know where certain content lives.

HTML5 is just the newest standard of HTML. Before it was HTML 4, etc.
