Raise Security Properties in wp-admin/admin.php?

I downloaded a very dynamic theme called Builder from iThemes. It is almost like a program within the theme, that allows me to design my own themes within wordpress. The only problem is that the main component- the theme design layout- doesn't work. I'm missing links that allow me to design my site.

I went over to support, and asked what I should do. They had never really heard of it and are trying to figure it out. I found another post however where a user had the same problem, but ended up resolving the problem himself.

He first tried deactivating all the plugins. That didn't help. So he raised the security properties in his wp-admin/admin.php file. That worked. Everything works great.

Only thing is, he didn't say how to raise the security properties in the file. I know code a bit. If somebody could send me the line in the code that I would need to change, and tell me how to change it, I would be very greateful.

I spent 97 dollars on this theme, and would like to get my full use out of it.

By "raising the security properties" are you speaking of changing the actual file security of admin.php?

This is an operation called CHMOD and can be done either with your FTP program or with the File Manager included in the CPanel on many hosts.

However before you go ahead and do this be aware that there are many security considerations with doing something like this.

You might check with the developers of the theme before doing something like this - alternatively if it works you might consider just doing this so you can make your theme changes and then resetting the permissions to their original value.

I suppose that is it. I'm really not sure myself. The other person that had the same problem just said there was a problem with there admin.php file, so they raised it and everything worked. I guess that means raising the file security.

I would check with the developers. But they seem to think customer support doesn't need to exist Which really has made me mad. They have a support forum where I posted my problem, and I only got one response saying to use a different browser- which didn't work- and I think that was just another user giving me a hand.

And they don't have a phone number, and say they will not answer technical questions through email. The only way of support is on their forums, and I have had no luck getting any help.

So I revert to my helpful friends at WF who never have siezed to help me out.

Anyways, thanks for the info. So I need to use CHMOD do do this. I'll do some research on it and figure out what it is. If not I might ask you a few more questions about it later.

      Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear of the lack of support the developer is offering you, I would think that one of the advantages of using a commercial theme was supposed to be the support. I hope you raise that issue on their forum.

I'm happy to assist you with getting this figured out - if you're familair with using your FTP program feel free to PM me and I'll walk you through the basics.

You might also try and contact the other forum member who said they had some success with this and find out if they did indeed change file permissions on the admin.php file, and if so, what value they used.
