Hi guys, I have an idea for a website.

I need to allow people to sign up to my website, create a personal page and be able to edit it.

I'm just wondering if you know of a good CMS?

You are joking, right? Or a Troll looking to start yet another 'which CMS is best' thread.

Do some research via the 'search' facility and stop wasting your own and others time!

    Respectfully.

Richard, the guy has a single post, give him a break
Seriously, not all CMSs out of the box will let registered users maintain an editable page. Most CMSs would require a community plug-in / extension for this.
jonobl, from personal experience I would recommend looking into Joomla CMS with "Community Builder" or "Jomsocial" extensions.
      Good luck.

If you want to build a community there is a great FREE script called Dolphin (by Boonex). You can check it out here:

BoonEx Dolphin - Smart Community Builder

It's very flexible and has got great variety of features. It's something similar to PHPFOX, but it's free.

If you want to remove the brandings that will cost you something, of course, but still, they don't charge an arm and a leg!

Sorry for my little rant above! Yes, I was being a little too clever for myself.

Hope you get what you need Ok. I use MODx CMS which is geared towards xhtml/css techy types really (to be honest) and is a little short on add-ons for time being. But if you are an xhtml/css whizz take a look. Allows you to transfer your skills to CMS near effortlessly. Otherwise, Joomla as noted above will no doubt be fine.

I'm not really sure if Joomla is what I need. I'm very capable of creating a website using HTML & CSS.

What i'm wanting is to allow users to sign up to my site and create their own profile page from a template. I then want to allow users to add information to their profile but not edit the profile pages of other users.

      Can Joomla do this?

Yes, yes, you can try Wordpress, but it's really a blogging platform... not a true CMS. Sure you can practically turn it into one by installing certain plugins, but why would you want too?
