what to do with these 404s ??

Hey guys just a quick question in my google webmaster tools just checking a site I had created for a friend and get a few 404 errors.

Checking the URLs of those errors they are old posts and pages that used to be on the WP site, they have been deleted. There are a few others I do not recognise.
What action can I take redirect? or will they change soon?

Thanks

I believe a fair few people, redirect, and or use a custom 404, with adsense, can be good for a few clicks from time to time, the best practice is probably to redirect, )

-Besides deleting your posts, empty the trash.
-They will eventually disappear (when Google boot crawls your site again)
-Meanwhile, create a custom 404 page with an opt-in, a CPA or something similar.

If you have a submitted sitemap, make sure you update it on webmaster tools. It might be that Google still uses the links in there. Secondly, check that you don't have orphaned links hanging about on your site.

I believe - The best way is creating custom 404 with the list of most popular pages of your site. It help people and it is good for SEO.
