Need Herlp With An Unsupported Plugin

I want a hosted poll plugin on my site (Secrets of Marketing Accounting Services | Powering Startup and Growing Bookkeepers, Accountants and Tax Preparers) so that I won't be showing a link that takes visitors away frm my site. The one that appears to offer the most versatility with the simplest interface is Lester Chan's WP-Polls. In addition to including a widget, it also let's me schedule the polls so that there is always an active poll. I don't have to manually change to a new poll.

Everything looks good in Firefox, but the poll doesn't even show on screen in IE.

Apparently, this has been going on since before the developer quit his plugin development, so I don't believe it is an incompatibility with WP 3.0+. One post he answered indicated that he thought the problem was with unclosed tags from something that preceded his plugin. Is it possible this is correct? And, if it is, is there anything I can add to the plugin code that closes any and all open tags? And, should I do that?

Thanks in advance.
Kirk

    Hi Kirk

Not sure how much help it is, but if you run the site through the W3 Validator at The W3C Markup Validation Service it does show a number of errors, including some un-closed tags.

IE versions prior to IE9 seem to be more "sensitive" to HTML errors, perhaps that is what is causing the problem.

    Thanks to both!

I guess that if I run it through the validator, I should be able to figure out where the errors are coming from.

I sometimes get to where I wish we were still using pen and pencil.

    Okey Dokey.

I went to the HTML validator (nifty tool) and slogged my way through the errors and corrected all of them but one that were something I had done. I have asked the theme developer support team how to fix the css link placement error. i.e. - Where do I put the CSS link in their them in order to validate.

Howsomever, the plugin itself (Lester Chan's WP-Polls) seems to have omitted closing a div tag ... or he put it in the wrong place.

As I still cannot see the poll in my IE window, how do you suggest I find the way to modify his code so the </div> is inserted correctly? And, is it possible that will still not fix the problem?

    Thanks in advance!
