My WordPress site that has been running fine for years just took a dive on me. I altered a .htaccess file but saved a backup copy. Altering it was a bad decision obviously but I replaced the original file now and am still having issues. All my deep links forward to my homepage. A complete disaster. I need help ASAP!

Did you clear your browser cache along with clearing any Wordpress caching mechanism you might have?

Yes. I should have never messed with the .htaccess

I am hoping my hosting provider will have technical support for this.

I can give you sample of my work, but right now my offsite SEO efforts and sales are going down the drain every second this problem persists.

Okay, posted this as a gig on Craigslist and am getting lots of offers. This community is more marketing but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Hi Aaron can you post the content of your htaccess file in this thread?, just to make sure nothing untoward has crept in there...

Also make sure you haven't uploaded the htaccess file into the wrong directory by mistake and now have two conflicting ones.

If you have another wordpress site, download htaccess from that an upload it to the site with issues, or upload a new .htaccess file straight from the wordpress download package.

Just throwing out some ideas here..

I guess I was posting htaccess files in the wrong directories. Geeze, that's what I get for doing it myself, ha ha ha.

Completely remove the .htacces for a moment and clear cache of wordpress and the hosting, wait till 5 minutes wait it to propagate, then browse your site.

If it does not do any changes I suggest to back up your wordpress and re-install a fresh copy of wordpress CMS.

Thank you for the advice. Problem got solved by my hosting company. Was putting htaccess in the wrong place.
