How would one create a website like this?

Hey all.

I had a question from a friend of mine over a game of racquetball. He sells prepaid airtime terminals (like to gas stations and such), but wanted to start selling the airtime himself directly to the customer.

He directed me to this site as an example of kinda what he's looking for: CallingMart.com

However, after going to the site, this is outside of my expertise, as I'm an affiliate marketer. I'd still like to at least point him in the right direction (I DID date his daughter, after all lol), so here's my question:

What is this site build on, and how would one go about setting up something similar to use as a payment processor for said prepaid cards?

Or, essentially I guess I'm just wondering how that site is running, or what it's running ON.

Thanks for any and all help!

-Tom

I not know about a lot about it but why you not go to Google and type your question on Google it gives you the best solution.

    Hello sirtom,
it is hard to tell what exactly webshop software that site is using or if it isn't even customly made.
However there are many good shop systems out there which your friend could use and scale as he needs. Magento is a good one as far as i know Magento - Home - eCommerce Software for Growth .
These shops are really scalable and many plugins are available.
For the payment, most payment services as paypal have an IPN (Instant Payment Notification) service which you can easily integrate into the shop. This allows instant online delivery if he wants to.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

    Greetings

      Hi Tom,

That site was made with ASP.NET and hosted on IIS. I am pretty sure its a custom coded site.

I 2nd this. There are many opensource eCommerce solutions available which you can start with and modify the UI. Just remember if you want custom functionality that you don't want to share with the world you're going to have to build it yourself. 8^)

This has been really interesting, thanks everyone for helping out

          Now, another question:

Is anyone here proficient in doing this kind of work, and/or how much would it be (approximately) to do this kinda thing?

That, or to set up the structure of the site.. I believe the merchant card integration is from another end, but for the actual site itself.

(The only coding I know is HTML, so I wouldn't have an idea on the cost of creating something like this or the time input).

          Thanks again!

Agreed here, code doesn't look wordpress/drupal-ish.

Page doesn't look too complex, guess it can be done for couple hundred bucks on Freelancer.com

Just make sure to pick an experienced freelancer or it will be a major pita debugging this.

    Cheers,
    Rob
