Proper Way to Implement a Facebook App

I had a facebook app made. I basically had my YouTube channel made into an App. The developer who helped me put the app as a tab on my Facebook Page.

Is that right? Or should it be it's own page. I've seen (although Facebook seems to have change its search functionality) that I used to see people / pages / apps when I search for a term. So should my app be registered as an app?

Finally, the purpose is to get app users and not necessarily app likes right

Thanks in advance,

It's not right or wrong, but it's a little easier to engage people. Even if you prevent your page's visitors from seeing content until they hit "like", it's still less of a hassle when they don't have to approve a new Facebook app to see your content.

That completely depends on what your goals are.

Your page name should appear in the search along side of apps and other pages. The major difference between app and page is you have a greater ability to access user profile information, view their friends, or even access to post to their wall. But they have to be willing to trust your app enough to accept handing permissions to you.

That's the idea, but use what makes sense for your project. If you need user profile information, privileged information like emails, or post on a user's wall, make an app. If you want to display content and have people opt-in to your content by "liking" you, go with the page and drip feed posts.
