Duplicate Content on Client Site

My client recently gave permission for me to post my articles to my own site for my portfolio and to help promote my contributions on his site.

I know I could simply link to them in my portfolio or import them in an RSS without actually posing them but want to maximize the SEO value to my site without getting Google slapped.

Most of my question was answered by Clint Butler over at:

but I'm still unsure if simply setting my post date earlier than his would work or if there are other factors to consider?

  • My client pays me to write blog posts for his site, paid guest blogging instead of ghostwriting, and gave permission, even though they are work for hire/sale, for me to use them on my own blog as well to build my authority.

    • Google could give a rat's behind about duplicate content.
      The index it, rank it, even stolen content.

      Has nothing to do with publish date or any other such rot.

      Google does not love fresh, unique content "just because."

      Original author? That's rich.
      Even if they could, would, should, keep track...there's no need.

    As far as the client goes your doing it backwards.

    The client will be seen as scraping your domain/page since the client page will include a link giving you credit to the same article on the page where the link is pointing.

    WeIl, I couldn't understand the concept of publishing your post over the client site and that duplicity thing an all can't you help me in understanding things a little more clearer !! It would be helpful if you can elaborate a little more about what you are trying to do over here !
  • Personally, I would just link to them, duplicate content is not OK, also rewriting them is "cheesy", if you'd ask me So, you already wrote them once, on your client's website, now you could link to them and let everyone know that is your work Maybe you'll get even more clients this way
  • I am not understanding why you want to write as Guest Blogger? You can write as author na. Google will not able to track whether you are just an author or guest blogger unless it's mentioned there with your name as Guest Blogger.
